YU LIK ‘CHEE CHEONG FUN’
‘Chee Cheong Fun’ is the traditional food especially for those chinese citizens in Malaysia since 1930s. Mr. Lee Tee Kheem who is the founder and the recent owner of the famous “Restoran San Yulik@Chee Cheong Fun” located at Taman Cheras.
Mr. Lee started his very first job helping his God Father, Mr. Toh in a rice factory in Cheras in the year 1988 with his age of only 13 years old that time. He quit after five years and trying to explore in techical industry, became a piano technician. Unfortunately he realised that his great interest was in food and beverage, so quit again and re-entered to food industry as a Claypot Chicken Rice stall assistant in the year of 1995. Afterwards, he established his very own roadside beverage stall in Cheras selling and presenting his own home made recipe herbal drinks. Since his childhood life, he likes ‘chee cheong fun’ very much. Then he again underemployed by a roadside chee cheong fun at Taman Yulik owner who after that became his Master in the year 1997 at his age of 22 years old which operating from night time until morning. From there he learnt and experienced his chee cheong fun profession. In order to exposed further and to satisfy the market demand, he started his chee cheong fun stall at the same place from afternoon to evening and helping his Master again from night to midnight. In the year 1998, Mr. Lee successfully exposed himself and founded his “Restoran San Yulik Chee Cheong Fun” into shoplot at Taman Cheras which the recent location. In the year 2001, his wife Ms.Tan Ai Nee quit her job in textile industry and helping him to further explosure.
Of course, the home made chee cheong fun sauce will be the secret recipe in their restoran. Their original traditional chee cheong fun mixed with their smooth recipe sweet sauce and onion oil topped with sesame and dry fried shrimp presenting the best top tasty food in the restaurant. For those who can take spicy, their home recipe curry sauce will be the best choice to mix with chee cheong fun. Some how, most of their regular customers mixed the sweet and curry sauce to eat with chee cheong fun.
On the side dishes, yong tau foo made with the fresh ‘mua fish’ meat minced all the way from Johor state brings the freshness and eatery taste. ‘Fu pei’ wrapped with their fresh ‘mua fish’ meat is one of the most recommended in the San Yulik, secondly will be their yong fresh red chili, smooth beancurd, lady finger and dry fried pork skin also the top selling. About dessert, their ‘fu chuk barlie’, red beans and green beans soup drink are the dessert which cannot missed for their visitors.
