Mandy first acquainted with F&Bindustryather teenage age through helping her mother (Madam Voon) attheir food stall named “PuteriPadawan” back in the Cat City. She then departed from Kuching in pursuit of higher education and has since missed her hometown food. After ‘soul-searched’ for Kuching foods in West Malaysia for years, and failed to find the same hometown taste that could appease her taste palates, her crave for authentic Kuching foods was aggravated. When the business opportunity arose in 2017, she and her husband decided to venture into it and gave birth to Authentic Kuching CuisineRestaurant.This business is fully supported by her uncle Voon Sep Vui, who is the Main Chef with about 30 years of experience in the industry. In a short span of time, Authentic Kuching CuisineRestaurant’s customer base has increasingly grown in tandem with the number of dishes they offered over time. It is no doubt thatAuthentic Kuching CuisineRestaurant isnow one of the few restaurants in West Malaysia that serves the most number of well-known Kuching Street Foods including serving Sarawak aroma coffee shipped from Kuching. Patrons can enjoy their authentic Kuching foods and drinks in a Kuching-themed atmosphere.

Topping the list from the menu is no other than the Sarawak’s leading delicacy “Sarawak Laksa”. The key ingredient, which is the Sarawak laksa paste is imported directly from Sarawak. The paste and other additional ingredients are then mixed together for boiling for more than 2 hours before fresh coconut milk (Santan) is added to the broth. This dish is commonly served with boil-cooked thickrice noodles (Bihun), topped withpan-fried egg slices, shreddedchicken, prawns, beansprout  and finely chopped celery. It is recommended to savor it with their homemade belacan pastesqueezed with lime juice to bring out the fragrance and appetite for a bowl of wonderful Sarawak Laksa.

Second to none is the signature “KoloMee”, which is also among the  Kuching’s leading local delicacies that can be found in almost every eatery in Kuching. Kolomeeis served with boil-cooked special-homemade flour noodles topped withminced pork and roasted pork slices (char siew). There are two versions offered by Authentic Kuching Cuisine Restaurant: original which is the so called white version and the red version with char siew sauce. Original version tends to taste slightly salty while the red version has a more enriched cha siew sweet taste. A bite to the noodles will lead you to discover its unique texture and irresistible taste.

Next in line is the famous “Fried ManicaiBihun”, which is also among the restaurant’s daily top seller recently. “Fried ManicaiBihun” is wok-fried thickrice noodles (Bihun) with Manicai (star gooseberry leaves), mushroom slices, dried shrimps, minced pork and chickenegg. It has a unique and incredibly delicious wok taste that you will never regret oncetasted here. The“Crispy Tomato Noodles or KueyTiaw” is another Kuchingnites’favouritefood whichyou should not miss. “Crispy Tomato Noodles” is prepared by using deep-fried raw KoloMee served with home-cooked tomato gravy mixed with char siew (roasted pork), pork meatslices, prawnsand vegetables. It offers a very appetizing sweet and sour taste that you will not forget. This dish is a must try as it is pretty hard to find it even in Kuching city itself nowadays. It has a long history of being one of the most common Kuching street foods for decades.

Next is the special dish called “Kacang Ma” or also known as Motherwort Braised Chicken which only availableon weekends. This dish consists of the mixture of chicken whole legs, motherwort herb, ginger and rice wine. It is by nature a nourishing dish which is believed to strengthen weak body given its medicinal properties. Not forgetting their “Kiaw” or locally known as Wanton (dumpling)is served with minced pork, finely chopped mushrooms and prawns, marinate with oyster and sesame sauces to give it an unforgettable taste.
