“Hong Kong Dim Sum” is a kind of Cantonese’s most favourite eatery taken since thousands of years ago which originated from Guangdong, China. Once upon a time in Hong Kong dim sum sessions were about tea appreciation, thats why dim sum meals are commonly known in Cantonese as ‘Yum Cha’ (or drink tea). The baskets of delicate dumplings were a foil for the fragrant drink and considered snacks rather than a full meal being nowadays like by the locals. Here in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan we successfully found and recognised among the best recommended Hong Kong Dim Sum specialist “Jinbo” carried by the Siow brothers & sister since 2012.
All the Negeri Sembilan local originated Ms. Siow Mee Mee (born 1969), Mr. Eric Siow Woon Seng (born 1978) and Mr. Siow Woon Foo (born 1980) were the initial founders and also the immediate owners of this well recognised “Restoran Jinbo” Hong Kong Dim Sum eating house in the Seremban oldtown serving all their homemade authentic Cantonese dim sum and cuisine selections to the locals & visitors in few outlets recently. Having great positive response from the market, enabled them to be recognised as the best in town year 2018 by the F&B E-Media.
Siow’s parents who all the while in f&b industry running their chinese cuisine restaurant “Mee Wah Cafe” in hometown Titi, Jelebu (Negeri Sembilan) serving Malaysia & Singapore local’s eateries made these brothers & sister (Mee Mee, Eric & Woon Foo) touched the field since kids helping parents in the restaurant. With great interest in eatery & chefing also allowed the brothers Eric & Woon Foo been reached to Australia late 1990s began as a dim sum kitchen trainee, then also further their exposure in England to sharpen their experinces in the career. As for elder sister Mee Mee too all the while in the industry on retail floor.
With the experiences and confidents hold, added with foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry and wishing to have their very owned eating house added on vision to expose further in the career enabled the Siow brothers & sister in year 2012 successfully established their very first Hong Kong Dim Sum eating place officially named “Restoran Jinbo” along Jalan Temiang, Seremban introducing all their signature dim sum menus to the public in manner. Then another (2nd) outlet at Bukit Kepayang, Seremban in year 2015, the 3rd in Balakong, Selangor in year 2018.
In these Jinbo dim sum houses, the owners’ very first top recommended in menus will be their famous “Prawn Dumpling”(Shrimp Dumpling) or locally known Har Kau which most wanted by their regulars. Fresh shrimps mixed with pork lard oil wrapped in a thinly hand-rolled piece of translucent wheat dough (made from wheat starch), then served after about 4 minutes steamed brings excellent shrimp’s freshness taste and smooth bites texture into mouth that you must try when reached Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
Secondly will be their Signature “Pork & Prawn Dumpling” or locally known as Siu Mai, which all the while among the restaurant’s daily top seller. The mixtures of lean meats and fresh prawns (shrimps), wrapped with flour-made piece of dough, then finally served after 6 minutes steamed will brings best juicy bites into mouth that you cannot aside here.
Also their “Prawn & Chives Dumpling”, which you find here totally different from the others. Mixtures of prawns, chopped chives & sengkuang, wrapped in a wheat made piece of dough, then served after 4 minutes steam-cooked will brings amazing crystal clear dumpling eatery into mouth that you neither found better elsewhere in town.
While in the Bun or Chinese Bao corner, their “Egg Yolk Bun” will be among the customer’s most favourite recently. Fillings made from the mixtures of salted egg yolk, cheese, butter, sugar & fresh milk, filled in their handmade thick flour-dough then served after 5 minutes steamed will brings very authentic chinese bun’s bites smoothness into mouth. Especially the hot & tasty larva paste gravy leaking into mouth on bites.
Moreover, the owners also introduced among the Chef’s all time favourite choice “Stir Fried Turnip Paste” or commonly known the Radish Cake / Carrot Cake. In-house made turnips prepared in cube pieces, stir-fried mixed with chicken egg, dried radish, chives, beansprouts & homemade belacan paste will brings unbelievable nice wok-taste and the belacan’s delicious salty & spicy taste that you will like it.
In Chinese dessert or confectionery menu, their homemade “Egg Custard Tart” will be the visitor’s best choice. Their homemade crunchy thick flour-dough filled insided with their egg custard (mixtures of chicken egg, sugar & fresh milk), then finally served after 10 minutes baked brings wonderful tasty tart that you will never regret after tasted here.
For those who like yam, need no aside their “Yam Croquette” which most wanted by the locals. Mixtures of pork, mushroom & garlic fried with their home recipe sauce, then filled into yam-made paste dough, followed by about 5 minutes deep fried will brings crispy layer bites and obvious yam smooth taste into mouth that you should try here.
