“Cantonese Dim Sum” or local commonly known Hong Kong (HK) Style Dim Sum is a kind of chinese eatery cuisine which taken by the Cantonese religious since decade ago, being nowadays favourite by most of the locals on our nation all presenting on respective recipes. Here in the East Malaysia, we found and being successfully recognised among the best recommended HK Dim Sim restaurant “Fortune Garden” running by both Chang brothers in Sandakan, Sabah.

Both Sandakan local originated Mr. Chang Wen Jie (born 1988) and Mr. Chang Wen Cherng (born 1993) were the initial direct founders and immediate owners of this best recognised Cantonese Dim Sum eating house “Fortune Garden Restaurant” at Bandar Indah, Sandakan introducing their home recipe hong kong style dim sum and other local authentic chinese cuisine selections to the locals & visitors all under a roof since year 2017.

Chang Wen Cherng or commonly known Chef Cherng, who at his age of only 26 years old currently, is also the restaurant’s main dim sum chef initially stepped into the f&b industry in year 2011 at his 18th of age began as a kitchen trainee touched the cantonese dim sum field in Sungai Buloh, Selangor for few years then been positioned as a Dim Sum Chef at his 20 years old before returned to hometown Sandakan. Later-on running his home base dim sum supplies career started year 2016, having great positive response from the market.

With Chef Cherng’s experiences in the field, added with his vision to have his very owned dim sum eating house and subsequently joined by elder brother Wen Jie, who formerly was in Accountancy Industry, both foreseeing the market opportunity in the market enabled them in year 2017 successfully established their very first and owned cantonese dim sum & chinese cuisine eating house named “Fortune Garden Restaurant” along Batu 4 Jalan Utara, Sandakan serving all their chef’s home dim sum recipes and other signature menus to the locals. And finally being recognised among the best in town by the F&B E-Media for year 2019.

In this Fortune Garden dim sum house, Chef Cherng’s very first recommended in menus will be their all day top seller Pork Dumpling “Xiao Mai”. Local fresh pork minced prepared in-house mixed with fresh shrimp on recipes, hand-wrapped with flour-made wrapper, topped onto homemade orange sagu then finally served after about 7-8 minutes steamed will brings excellent delicious dim sum that you must try when reached Sandakan, Sabah. Also their “Ci Mai”, which made from the mixtures of pork minced meat and fresh shrimp added into chopped celery leaf, spring onion & carrot shredded, finally served also in about 8 minutes steamed that brings another exotic dim sum selection here.

Secondly will be their famous “Seaweed Mai”, which also among the customer’s favourite here. The mixture of their home prepared pork minced & shrimp, rolled with Japanese imported seaweed then steam-cooked in about 8 minutes to serve on table. And the chinese local’s most wanted Har Kao or known “Shrimp Dumpling”, which made from local fresh sea prawns wrapped with Chef’s homemade rice wrapper and finally served after few minutes steamed brings wonderful shrimp’s freshness itself and the smooth bites texture into mouth that you will never regret after tasted here.

Another will be their fresh Steamed Pork Spare Ribs or locally known “Pai Guk”, which like by most of the visitors here. Local fresh pork spare ribs selected, prepared into cutted pieces, marinated overnight on home recipes, then 10 minutes steamed with black soy beans & red chilli shredded will brings the best steamed pork ribs in town. For those who like chives vege must try their “Jiu Cai Gao”, which made from the mixtures of pork minced, shrimp & chopped chives, then wrapped with homemade crystal rice wrapper.

While in the Pao or Chinese Buns corner, the owners introduced their signature “Liu Sha Pao” which prepared insided with mixtures of fresh milk, carnation milk, milk powder & salted egg yolk that brings smooth tasty gravy swallowed into mouth in bites.
