“Pan Mee” or locally also known as Ban Mian, is a kind of Hakka-style of flat noodle soup which believed that was originated from our nation Malaysia. Being famously practised since 19th century and nowadays among one of the chinese’s local delicacy eatery easily found everywhere on respective recipes. The Perlis originated Mr. Choo Lim Sang (born 1958), was the initial founder, together with his wife Madam Anna Ma Foung Ching (Sabahan, born 1964) both are the immediate owners of this recognised “Old Taste Pan Mian” noodle house running at Penampang, Sabah serving all their homemade Pan Mee options and other signature menus to the locals & visitors under a roof. Also being assisted by their daughters Elaine Choo Kah Vun (born 1989), Rowena Choo Kah Fei (born 1991), Fiona Choo Kah Kee (born 1996) and Bonnie Choo Kah Sin (born 1997) as the next generation on the same ground.
The founder Mr. Choo Lim Sang, who at his age of 61 years old currently, was in Furniture Manufacturing Industry for more than 40 years since age of 16th. All the while having great interest in eatery & culinary, especially the authentic Hakka-style flat noodles (Pan Mee) will be the main reason for him to step into the f&b industry recently. With the vision to have their very owned noodle house, added with foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry locally and supports from family members allowed the Choo couple successfully established their very first eating place officially named “Old Taste Pan Mian” at Plaza 333, Kota Kinabalu in early year 2018 began introducing their homemade noodles and recipes to the locals in manner. And finally being recognised among the best recommended in town by the F&B E-Media for the year 2019.
In this Old Taste Pan Mian, the owners’ very first top recommended in menus surely will be their authentic “Signature Pan Mian Soup” which most wanted by the regulars. Home soup base boiled at least 2 hours with chicken bones, ikan bilis, sengkuang etc, cooked in minutes with their homemade hand-rubbed flat flour noodles either in fine-round (Yiu Mee), flat (Pan Mee) or teared Pan Mian on customer’s request, mixed into fresh pork slices, mali vege leaves, meat balls and finally served topped with home-fried crispy ikan bilis, fried onions & chopped spring onions will be a bowl of their wonderful Pan Mee Soup that you must have a try here. Local fresh pork shoulder selected, prepared in pieces and cooked with their home recipe curry paste in half an hour in-house, finally served with their boiled Pan Mee (noodles option), and topped onto crispy ikan bilis, deep fried onions & chopped spring onions will brings another excellent curry taste of Pan Mee selection that you will never regret after tasted here. Especially the tasty curry itself swallowed and the pork meat’s bites texture into mouth.
