The Alor Setar originated Ms. Chia Siew Khim (born 1978), was the immediate founder and also the only recent owner of this best recommended Chinese Hainanese, Nyonya & Thai Cuisines eating house “Restoran RT” along Jalan Teluk Wanjah, Alor Setar still serving most of their authentic home recipe selections and other signature menus to the locals &visitors all under a roof with Pork Free, all the while on the same ground since 1980s before being converted into a better manner chinese restaurant today.

The owner Chia Siew Khim, who was formerly a Banker for more than 10 years, all the while having interest in eatery & culinary been visited the local Teluk Wanjah’s Rukun Tetangga canteen previously named the “Restoran Heng” running by an aged couple since year 1980s serving their very home-cooked (Pork Free) chinese hainanese & nyonya cuisines. Later-on been continued by the wife after husband been passed away, decided to retire enabled Siew Khim to take over the career then fully stepped into the f&b industry in year 2010 been passed onto the couple’s home recipes and continue the exposure in the field reached year 2013.

In order to expose further, foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry locally and experiences & recipes on hand. Added wishing to let their customers having a better dining environment made Siew Khim in year 2013 re-structured the restaurant/canteen and successfully established her very first owned Chinese Hainanese & Nyonya/Thai Cuisines eating house officially named it “Restoran RT” still on the same ground at Rukun Tetangga Zon 4, Jalan Teluk Wanjah (Alor Setar) continue presenting their 30 years authentic in-house recipes to the public in better manner. Finally being recognised among the best in town by the F&B E-Media for the year 2019 in the upper northern nation.

In this Restoran RT, the owner Siew Khim’s very first top recommended in menus will be their special “Fried Black Pomfret” which all the while most wanted by their regular customers. Local fresh sea Black Pomfret commonly selected, cleaned then followed by few minutes deep fried to cooked, finally served with their home-mixed black soy sauce mixtures and fully topped with fried chopped garlic, onions shredded & limes will brings excellent fish’s freshness taste and the crispy bites of eatery that you must have a try when reached Alor Setar, Kedah.

Secondly will be their famous “Assam Pedas Stingray” or locally known Ikan Pari, which among the best selection in the nyonya cuisine corner like by the visitors from the beginning. Local fresh Stingray/Ikan Pari (or on customer’s option), cooked with their homemade assam pedas paste (made from 5 spices mixture) into soup broth, added into lady fingers then served hot in their special metal pot will brings wonderful authentic sweet, sour & spicy taste of their nyonya assam pedas eatery that you will never regret after tasted here.

Another will be their Hainanese Signature “Deep Fried Inchi Chicken”, which also among the restaurant’s daily top seller all the while. Local fresh chicken drumstick commonly selected, prepared into cutted pieces then fresh marinated on recipes, followed by about 10-15 minutes deep fried into golden yellow, then served hot & crispy on table will brings exotic salty taste of chicken bites into mouth that you neither found the same nor better elsewhere in town other than this “Restoran RT”.

Moreover on the appertising dishes option, the owner Siew Khim introduced their very homemade “Kerabu Manggo Taukua” which prepared with combination of nyonya, chinese & thai style of recipes which favourite by the locals. Dried beancurds (taukua) deep fried, served topped with mixtures of fresh manggo shredded, onions, dried shrimps & basil leaves, added into their in-house sweet & sour sauce paste will brings delicious appertising sweet sour & fair spicy taste of local thai/nyonya manggo salad that you cannot aside here.

Nonetheless, their chef’s and owner’s all time favourite recommended “Signature Assam Soy Sauce Prawn” also to be the best among their comer’s most wanted from the beginning.
