The founders, Kuala Sangga (Perak) local originated late Mr & Mrs Lee (Kwoi Chew’s grandparents) whose running their couple’s chinese coffee shop (kopitiam) at hometown in the 1940s all the while serving their very homemade/handmade traditional Chinese (Teochew) Pastries/kuih, also being assisted by son & daughter-in-law (Kwoi Chew’s parents, the 2nd generation) on the ground at hometown Kuala Sangga, Perak. While the recent owners Lee Kwoi Chew and brothers/sisters (3rd generation) since kids touched the industry helping families in the field reached year 1990s.

With experiences & home recipes on-hand, added with vision to further their family’s exposure in the career and foreseeing the market opportunity in the f&b industry locally. Also wishing to bring their Lee family’s generations passed onto homemade traditional chinese teochew pastries on table to serve the public in better manner enabled Lee Kwoi Chew, Lee Kui Choon and brothers & sisters decided then started their very traditional Chinese Teochew Kuih stalls in the chinese coffee shop at Taman Perling & Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru in the year 2019 officially named the “Ah Ma Teochew Kuih” introducing all their signatures to the locals.

Later-on in the year 2020 being exposed and moved into their very first owned Chinese (Teochew) Traditional Pastry eating house under the named of “Ah Ma Teochew Kuih” (by Ah Ma Delights) along Jalan Trus, Johor Bahru and then another at Taman Eco Botanic, Iskandar Puteri in the year 2021 respectively continue serving their in-house homemade/handmade recipes to the public. Also being assisted by their 4th generation on the ground. And finally being recognised among the best in town by the Malaysian F&B E-Media for the year 2022 in the southern nation.

In this Ah Ma Teochew Kuih, the owner’s very first top recommended in menus will be their Lee family’s authentic “Teochew Rice Kuih” which most wanted by their regulars especially the local’s Chinese Teochew religious. Flour-made wrapper with fillings in mixtures of their home-fried glutinous rice, dried shrimps, mushrooms & peanuts fully home-prepared in daily fresh basis, served after about 10 minutes steam-cooked will brings wonderful bites texture with tasty dried shrimp into mouth that you must have a try when reached Johor Bahru.

Secondly will be their “Ku Chai Kuih”, which also among the Teochew’s authentic pastry selection wanted by the locals from the beginning. Also their “Mang Kuang Kuih” or called the Sengkuang Kuih by the locals too among the eating house’s daily selection like by their customers, which served after 8 minutes steamed with fillings of red carrot shredded, sengkuang, dried shrimps & vege beans in mixture that you should have a try here.

Another will be their famous “Yam Kuih” or locally known the Yu Tou Gao, always among the visitors’ selection in the taro pastry series here. Imported yam (taro) commonly selected, home-prepared into yam paste with taro cubes insided, served after 25 minutes steamed, and finally taken toppings of chopped dried radish & dried shrimps dipping onto their homemade chilli paste will be the perfect matching in taking their Yam Kuih eatery that you never regret after tasted here.

Moreover, the owner also introduced their Lee family’s 4-generations authentic “Fried Mang Kuang Kuih” which like by most of their customers recently that commonly served in flavours option of peanuts, red beans or sengkuang (mixture with dried shrimps, vege beans & red carrot shredded), served after about 5 minutes deep fried in boiling hot cooking oil will brings excellent juicy bites texture into mouth that you neither found the same elsewhere in town.
