TRADITIONAL HAKKA PAN MEE! THE HOMEMADE RECIPE CHANGE A GENERAL WORKER’S LIFE

The flour noodle served in soup with ‘Ikan Bilis’ recently famous known as “Pan Mee” is one of the most favourite food taken by locals nowadays not only for breakfast but also as lunch and dinner. A former general worker, Mr. Lim Sheng Jiann (Kent) with his patient and assist by his wife Ms. Mok Lai Fong (Fong) are the founders and owners of the “Restoran Lim Kee Pan Mee” in Kuala Lumpur for more than 12 years.

In the year 1997, accident on jobs happened to Kent Lim affect deeply his career life and forced to quit his career. Ungiven-up spirit and patient carried by Kent with the great support from his wife Fong stepped into the food & beverage industry commenced their very first food stall selling Nasi Lemak at the roadside in Taynton View, Cheras in the year 1998 at his age of 27 years old. Unfortunately the location venue problem resricted the couple to stopped their Nasi Lemak stall after months. Later, Fong who very interested in ‘Pan Mee’ started to experience her Pan Mee cooking recipe combined with her mother’s traditional Hakka recipe finally again operating their couple “Lim Kee Pan Mee” stall at Taman Connaught, Cheras in the same year for about 2 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Subsequently in the year 2002, Kent and Fong again established their roadside “Lim Kee Pan Mee” stall in Taynton View, Cheras to further expose their career then successfully explore into shoplot named “Restoran Lim Kee Pan Mee” after 3 years in the year 2007 in Taynton View which recently their main branch.  In order to expand their career and to expose their homemade traditional hakka Pan Mee recipe, they established the second outlet at Pandan Jaya, Cheras in the year 2012.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the restaurant, for sure the top recommended menu will be the ‘Lim Kee Pan Mee’ which to be served in their homemade recipe clear soup base or in dry (kon lou), with 3 choices on their hand made noodle itself such round noodle, thick noodle or the cube teared noodle. According to the couple, the secret of Lim Kee Pan Mee is in the soup base, which boiled more than 3 hours with the mixture of quality Ikan Bilis, big fresh bones and yellow beans. A complete exotic Lim Kee Pan Mee seems served combine of their handmade noodle, fried crispy ikan bilis, mushroom and the most interesting minced meat which fried follow up by stewed before present. Besides, Dumpling also the most wanted by their visitors which made wrapped with the mixture of fresh sea shrimp or prawn, fresh pork and fresh fish meat presenting the top chewing eatery to bite and the freshness to taste.
