River Fish’ is one of the local attraction wild fresh seafood not only wanted by the locals but also most of those fish hunters from around the world, especially the Sungai Lipis Pahang in Malaysia. Mr. Chai Chin Fook originated from Pahang is the founder and the immediate owner of the “New Rainbow Restaurant”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Chai who loves and have 26 years experience in river fish formerly was a contractor during 1980s in Pahang, unfortunately due to the economy crisis he stepped into the food & beverage industry in the year of 1987 at his age of about 28 years old taken over a seafood restaurant named New Sea at Raub, Pahang. From there, Mr. Chai experienced his f&b career and in the year 1989 he practiced his cooking skills from a ‘chef master’ in Kuala Lumpur, while subsequent to the market demand on quality seafood from the year 1990, Mr. Chai forced to enter the wild river fish field and experienced it. Now with more than 25 years experience in wild river fish he can easily differ the low and top class fish, too enables to differenciate the original and fake river fish.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the year 1998, Mr. Chai with his wife Ms. Goh Jit Wee left Raub moved his family and his career to Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highland Pahang established his “New Rainbow Restaurant” serving top class and 100% original wild river seafood emphasising river fish to the locals and visitors form the world. It also well known as the Malaysia Best river fish restaurant in town. With the vision to generation pass his expertise, his son Mr. Chai Wei Kit who touched the field since his secondary education period recently also one of the main chef in the restaurant, who is also the founder of the ‘Welcome & Taste Western Food Restaurant’ at Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highland.  While his daughter Ms. Chai Lee Yean with the knowledge of wild river fish serving in the restaurant.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to Mr. Chai, among the wild river fish population ‘Patin’ fish especially from Sungai Lipis, Pahang which available in his restaurant will be the most valuable fish in the market. He too expereinced the ‘Patin’ came up to 24 kilograms. With his homemade sauce poured on the clear steamed Patin fish is the most recommended menus in the New Rainbow Restaurant. Secondly will be the ‘Tingalan’ fish which with torn follow by the Red ‘Ji Lo’ fish which today is one of the controlled species in Malaysia. Others, the visitors can taste their original fresh ‘Ji Lai’ fish and ‘Hak Sou Gong’ which also limited and valuable river fish available in Mr. Chai place. Besides fish, their giant wild river prawn clear steamed with egg is also one of the top selling wanted by the locals and tourists. Nonetheless, non-seafood categories the wild frog clear steamed with chicken stock is also one of their famous dish in the restaurant.
