CHAN’s FAMILY PRESENTING THEIR HOMEMADE HAKKA YONG TAUHU FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS
“Yong Tauhu” which hundreds years been traditional dish from Chinese Hakka religious around the world specially in Asia. While in South Malaysia, Mr. Chan Kim Looi who is local origin born in year 1960 is the founder and together with wife Madam Ko Hun Cheng (Ah Cheng) are the immediate owners of the oldies “Wang Sing Fish Ball Yong Tauhu” restaurant in Johor.
Chan Kim Looi who with his age of 53 years old recently, stepped into the food industry at his age of 14 years old in Singapore worked as food stall assistant in a Teow Chew food stall underemployed at Jurong in 1974 for about 3 years commenced his f&b career. Then in year 1977 Chan returned to Johor Bahru joined the ‘Ocean Restaurant’ an Chinese cuisine restaurant as kitchen assistant expose further his career at Taman Sri Tebrau from his age of 17 years old for another 2 years. After that he stepped into bubble shop career experienced other industry for years before re-stepped into food industry for good till recent.
With Chan’s family home recipe generation passed and his great interest in food eatery, he finally with wife decided to explore in the industry then established their very 1st owned food stall in the ‘Tien Tien Lai Restaurant’ at Taman Sri Tebrau operating their homemade yong tauhu in the year 1990 at his age of 30 years old named “Wang Sing Fish Ball Yong Tauhu” food stall. Subsequent to the great response from the public, enabled them to expand later on moved to establish their recent specialize shop at Taman Desa Tebrau after 23 years in the year 2013 September.
Madam Ko who originated from Ipoh, Perak born in year 1964 initially stepped into the food industry since her age of 16 years old in 1980 worked as waitress in her elder brother restaurant ‘Ocean Restaurant’ at Taman Sri Tebrau, Johor Bahru for about 12 years where she met Mr. Chan, her husband. While their son, the 2nd generation Chan Wan Heng who born in year 1990 since kids during school off helping parents in the food stall then stepped into the industry after his secondary education at his age of 18 years old, also an graduates from western cake course.
In this yong tauhu specialise shop, surely their homemade tradition hakka yong tauhu which having more than 20 choices will be the top recommended menus, been served in fried or boiled. The yong tauhu insided with fresh yellow tale fish meat minced, and also mixed with fresh pork minced some added in squid to variety the tasty succulent young tauhu insided meats. Others, they also served handmade fresh fish ball using yellow tale fish brings the best eatery when tipping in their homemade chili paste sauce in the restaurant. Besides, their noodles will be served either in soup base which boiled hours with ‘left mouth fish’ roasted themselves mixed with chicken bones, or in their signature kon lau. Moreover, their ‘stewed wild bitter gourd’ also one of their top signature food which wanted by their regulars when stepped into their restaurant, boiled hours in their recipe sauce soup made from yellow beans and sour fruits bring the excellent taste.
