TRADITIONAL HANDMADE NOODLE AND YONG TAUFU BY WONG FOO MENG IN JOHOR BAHRU
The Sungai Lembing, Pahang origin Mr. Wong Foo Meng who born in year 1964 is the founder of the famous “Restoran Sungai Lembing” together with sister Ms. Wong Foong Lin and brother in law Mr. Chong Hock Voon operating the restaurant serving their hometown traditional handmade noodles and yong taufu in Johor.
Mr. Wong who with his age of 51 years old currently, touched the industry since his age of 12 years old in 1976 at Sungai Lembing as washing assiatant in the ‘Tao Yuan Kopitiam’ everyday before go to school for about 2 years then been quit by employer after broken row of bowls. While at his age of 21 years old in 1985, Wong initially stepped into the food industry when joined the ‘Sing Nga Lou Seafood Restaurant’ as kitchen assistant in Singapore for another 9 years experienced his cooking and f&b career. Later on in the year 2002 he returned to Malaysia, been generation passed on handmade noodle in Sungai Lembing enabled him to establish his very first food stall at Taman University, Johor presenting his handmade noodle curry mee and yong taufu in the ‘Xiang Yi Kopitiam’ for 2 years.
Subsequent to the great response from public, Wong established his 1st owned specialise handmade noodle restaurant at Taman University in the year 2005 named “Sungai Lembing Kopitiam”. Later on in 2008 explored to Taman Nusa Bestari established the “Restoran Sungai Lembing” which operating till recently presenting his handmade noodles curry mee, yong taufu, wantan mee and etc. While in the end of year 2012, Wong with his nephew Mr. Zack Chong Chee Hoong who with age of 26 years old established another concept outlet at Jalan Bestari 6/2 further expanding in the industry.
In these two restaurants, for sure Wong’s handmade tradition noodles is the main topic and reason been one of the MalaysiaBest restaurant recognized in Johor Bahru. Among their menu, surely the Curry Mee served with their home handmade noodle will be one of the top recommended which curry soup boiled for hours using the Kuantan originated curry powder paste mixed with 9 ingredients brings the best home recipe exotic curry soup base.
