THE 45 YEARS TRADITIONAL HOMEMADE RECIPE PRAWN MEE, LOW MEE & CURRY CHICKEN MEE BY TIA’S FAMILY
Both the North Malaysia origin from Kedah, Mr. Tia Ah Khoon who born in the year 1945 and wife Madam Ooi Ah Chin who born in year 1947 are the founders and first generation owners of the famous mee house “Kedai Makanan MWS” also known ‘Mei Vui Siang’ in Mandarin located in Johor.
Mr. Tia who with age of 69 years old currently, formerly quit his furniture industry career in his hometown Alor Setar stepped into the food industry together with his wife in the year 1969 at his age of 24 years old operating their very first roadside food hawker mee stall at Simpang Kuala, Kedah selling his handmade Wantan Mee and his mother in-law’s nyonya traditional recipe curry chicken rice, untill year 1986 for about 17 years.
Later in the same year 1986, Mr. Tia and Madam Ooi left their hometown reached Johor Bahru further expose their f&b career by established a food stall in Jalan Persisiran, Taman Perling named ‘Mei Vui Siang’ presenting their famous exotic Wantan Mee, Curry Mee, Low Mee and Prawn Mee for another 23 years reached 2009. Subsequent to the great response from Johor locals and visitors, enabled them to explore into their 1st specialize mee house in Taman Baiduri in the year 2009 for about two year, before moved to Taman Perling, Johor Bahru (current location) in the year 2011 named “Kedai Makanan MWS”.
While their 2nd generation Mr. Tia Ka Hui (Ka Hui) who born in year 1977 locally, touched the food industry since kids helping parents in their food stall during school off untill year 2009 stepped into the industry been generation passed on their homemade recipe running the mee house currently. Also with assist by his youngest sister Ms. Serine Tia Mei Nee who with age of 29 years old stepped into the industry in year 2011.
In this famous exotic mee house, their nyonya tradition homemade recipe Curry Chicken Mee will be the first top recommended in the menu. Curry paste fried with onions, garlic and their 6 secret ingredients before boil served with fresh chicken then mixed in potatoes cube which boiled seperately brings the best eatery cannot missed when stepped into the restaurant. Not only matching mixed with mee, but also perfect match taken with white boiled rice. Secondly will be their Signature Prawn Mee which served in soup base made from fried prawn shell, chili paste and dry shrimp, will only boil the paste with fresh prawn, fish cake slice and boiled egg when serving makes the top class recipe most wanted by their regulars. Others, their Low Mee is also one of the recommended in the mee house which soup paste boiled overnight using more than 10 ingredients, then poured into bowl mixture of braised egg, char siew, chicken fross, fish cake slice and braised pork topped with crispy fried onions must try. Nonetheless, Mr. Tia’s handmade Egg Wantan Mee too among the signature food wanted by his regulars using his home recipe handmade chewing mee served topped with char siew and chicken fross match with homemade boiled wantan in soup.
