In South Malaysia, Johoreans four brothers and sisters who are local origins Ms. Chong Min Wei (eldest sister), Ms. Chong Min Song (2nd sister), Mr. Chong Wee Ting (David) and youngest brother Mr. Chong Wee Chun are all together the founders and owners of the famous homemade recipe chinese cuisine restaurant “Jia Xiang Village Restaurant” located in Taman Tropika, Johor. With assisted by their mother Madam Liew Swee Chin who born in year 1957, been generation passed onto her home cooking recipe experience to her sons.
Madam Liew’s third children the eldest son Mr. David Chong who born in the year 1983 stepped into the food industry began his cooking career since year 1998 at his age of 15 years old, recruited himself into a local chinese cuisine restaurant as kitchen helper at Kulai, Johor for about 2 years. Later in year 2000, David travelled to Johor Bahru continued expose his profession joined his uncle who running a chinese restaurant ‘Jin Xiang Lou’ (pronouns) at Taman Desa Tebrau as beginner chef to strengthen his experience for another about three years.
Afterwards in year 2003 after returned to hometown Kulai, Johor, David Chong with his cooking experience and home recipe from mother enabled him to established his very first owned food stall in the ’818 Kopitiam’ in Kulai presenting his homemade menu choices at his age of only 20 years old, operating for another 6 years reached year 2009. Subsequent to the great response from the public and visitors, David successfully bodied up with his other 3 brother and sisters founded and established their 1st home recipe restaurant named “Jia Xiang Village Restaurant” in the year 2010 at Jalan Tropika 1, Kulaijaya Johor.
In this chinese cuisine homemade restaurant, their top recommended among menus will be the Jia Xiang Style Fried Fish using fresh deep sea ‘Red Grouper’ fish tale deep fried then topped with their homemade sause taste slight spicy mixed of soya sauce, chilli, ginger paste, garlic and onions brings the best eatery must try when stepped into the restaurant. Secondly will be the Butter Milk Salted Egg Pork Ribs King, using fresh pork ribs cutted into slice deep fried then topped mixed with their recipe butter milk and salted egg yolk presenting the exotic taste, also most wanted especially their visitors who non locals. Besides, the Vegetables BeanCurd also one of their signature choices in the restaurant. White soft fresh beancurd served topped with deep fried ‘chai bu’ and pork minced then poured onto with their secret recipe soya sauce which cannot missed. Nonetheless, their Signature Claypot Dry Chicken or known as ‘Jing Xiang Chicken’ too introduced by Chong’s family must taste if reached “Jia Xiang Village Restaurant”.
