THE MISSION AND GREAT INTEREST IN FOOD INDUSTRY ENABLED “AH CHENG” TO EXPOSE IN ROASTED INDUSTRY
The local origin Johorean, Mr. Toh Jui Cheng (Ah Cheng) who born in year 1988 is the Main Chef and founder, together with his grand aunty Madam Gan Toh who with age of 73 years old currently are the owners of the local roasted house “Cheng Sheng Roasted” in South Malaysia.
Ah Cheng who having great interest since teenagers, with his age of 26 years old recently, initially touched the food and beverage industry in year 2000 during school off and holidays as shop assistant in a kopitiam at Taman Perling, Johor since his age of only 12 years old keep on untill finished his education. While in the year 2006 at his 18 years old, Ah Cheng stepped into the f&b industry career reached Singapore recruited himself into a local ‘Ho Kee Wan Tan Mee’ restaurant at Jalan Kayu, Singapore began his profession for about 2 years. Later on joined his uncle in Woodland learnt the roasted recipe spent few months then shifted to his uncle’s friend roasted food stall in the town market for another few months to sharpen and strengthen his experience.
In year 2010, Ah Cheng returned to home country Malaysia further his explosure in the industry travelled and based in Pengerang, Johor for about a year to experience Laksa helping his girl friend’s family before he back to Johor Bahru. Afterwards, with his years of experience hold and with the mission to expose his career, Ah Cheng been supported by Madam Gan Toh who formerly also in the food industry, then successfully established their very first owned roasted and local recipe cuisine restaurant named “Cheng Sheng Roasted” at Taman Seri Orkid, Skudai in the mid year of 2013 serving Ah Cheng’s home made recipe.
In this roasted specialize house, the Boiled White Chicken will be the top recommended using local chicken weight of 1.6-1.7kg boiled for about 45 minutes in their recipe soup base brings the best chicken meat texture when bites. Soup base which slow boiled for an hour with chicken bones, pandan leafs and ginger also having inside with natural chicken stock which also served with a set of their chicken rice, will be the perfect match when taken with their chicken which poured onto their home recipe soya sauce. Secondly will be their Roasted Chicken which marinated with more than ten ingredients roasted then deep fried before served topped poured onto their recipe soya sauce also one of their signature in menu. Moreover, the Honey Roasted Char Siew also the most wanted by their regulars which marinated with eight recipe ingredients then roasted with honey presents the best eatery. Others, for those likes sour and spicy must try their Thai Style Taufu which using fresh white taufu deep fried in cube pieces then poured onto their home mixed Thai sauce and topped with shreddered vegetables, ground nuts and carrots which taste sour and spicy, can also be the appertizer before main course. As side order, can try Ah Cheng’s three generation passed recipe from grandmother, their home recipe Black Vinegar Pork Trotter which slow cooked for an hour then boiled in claypot before served. Nonetheless, other than chicken and roasted rice, they also introducing the Mee Hun Kuey using soup base boiled with ikan bilis and home recipe ingredients then mixed with meat ball, fish ball, fresh prawn, veges and topped with deep fried crispy ikan bilis and onions will be one of their top recommended in menu especially tipping on their handmade chili paste sause cannot missed when stepped into “Cheng Sheng Roasted” restaurant.
