DONNY WANG BRINGS THE HOME-LIKE DINNING ATMOSPHERE TO THE PUBLIC WITH HIS FOURTEEN YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY
The local origin Mr. Donny Wang Liang Tong who born in Johor in the year 1979 having fourteen years cooking career experience in the industry was the founder and immediate owner of the Malaysian, Thai and Western Cuisine restaurant “Grandma’s House” providing home-like dinning environment to his customers in South Malaysia since few years ago.
Donny Wang who since kids touched the f&b industry while helping mother, Madam Anna Liow Lee Choo who with age of 65 currently all the while in food and beverage career for about 47 years, during his school off and holidays. Donny who with his age of 35 years old recently, initially stepped into the industry in year 1997 at his age of 18 years old after graduated from his secondary education then registered himself into the hospitality course in Sunway College, Selangor spent 2.5 years finished his profession in year 2000.
The very first practical experience for Donny will be his employment into the ‘Sweanson’ ice cream group based at Genting Highland, Pahang for about 3 years experience his career. Afterwards in year 2003, he joined a western cuisine restaurant in Kuala Lumpur further expose in the industry as western food chef for about another 2 years before Donny returned to hometown Johor Bahru in the year 2005 assisting his mother in their chinese and western family restaurant named ‘Restoran Sonmee’ at Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.
Reached year 2010, in order to gain more cooking and eatery experience, Donny Wang again recruited himself into a chinese cuisine Hakka food restaurant ‘Ke Ren Lai Restaurant’ (pronouns) as chef in City Square, Johor Bahru for another 2 years, later on in the year 2012 successfully established his very first owned home-like restaurant named “Grandma’s House” in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Johor serving his home recipe menu with assisted by mother Anna and wife Ms. Lee Chin Hui.
In the Grandma’s House, you must try their very recommended Thai Style Tom Yam Soup with options mixed of seafoods, prawns, beefs or chickens. While in soup base wise they are 2 choices of Clear Tom Yam in white cooked with Donny’s 5 home recipe ingredients mixed into chicken soup base or another will be the Red Tom Yam which boiled from their home made tom yam paste. Secondly will be the Glassnoodle Prawn Salad which is one of their Thai style signature among menu made from boiled glassnoodle and boiled prawn mixed with their home sauce which taste sour and spicy also the most wanted by their regulars. Besides, their King Prawn Aglio-Olio too the top recommended using fresh deep sea ‘Ming’ species big prawn fried then topped onto the fried Italian noodle with their home recipe brings the exotic best eatery cannot missed. For those who can take lamb, can taste Donny’s Signature Grandma’s Grilled Lamb which raw lamb chop imported direct from New Zealand grilled with his home recipe mixed of HP Sauce presents the best eatery.
