33 YEARS TWO GENERATION YONG PENG BRAISED DUCK NOODLE/RICE BY WONGS’ FAMILY IN SOUTH MALAYSIA
“Braised Duck” been hundred years known as Teo Chew traditional food taken by Chinese throughout the nation, been also more than 30 years exposed by Johorean Wongs’ family reached Johor Bahru by the second generation. The Yong Peng, Johor origin Mr. Wong Ah Sing who born locally in year 1957 was the founder and immediate owner of the “Restoran Mee Daging Itik Yong Peng” began in Yong Peng, Johor recently been expanded into Johor Bahru by eldest son Mr. Wong Ching Lai also named “Yong Peng Duck Noodle” presenting their two generation home recipe.
Wong Ah Sing who with his age of 57 years old currently, who formerly in agriculture industry since teenager stepped into the food and beverage industry in year 1981 at his 24 of age, established his very first roadside food stall in Jalan Mahzou, Yong Peng operating together with wife Madam Koh Chew Yong (born 1957) introducing their home recipe wantan mee and laksa at the beginning stage for about 2 years, then subsequent to the recipe been generation passed by Wong’s mother, he came out with his very own exotic taste of braised duck introduced to the public untill recent, also the signature in menu attracted lots of public throughout the nations.
While his second generation, Wong Ching Lai who born in year 1982 touched the industry since kids helping parents in their food stall during school off. After his education, Ching Lai reached Singapore in year 2006 to explore his career in management field spent about 6 years, later returned to home country in the year 2012. With the great response from the market and with the mission to expose further his family career, Ching Lai decided to established their 1st outlet also the first specialize shop in Johor Bahru in the year 2013 known the “Yong Peng Duck Noodle” running with wife.
In this restaurant, surely the top recommended in menu will be their more than 30 years home recipe Braised Duck which using local ‘Pan Chai’ duck about 3kg of weight, brasied for more than an hour with their more than 10 combination of chinese herbals and ingredients brings the exotic taste, served on plate in cutted pieces and topped with secret recipe sauce which home made by Wongs’. Choices of Yong Peng Fook Chew Mee or Wantan round mee available in soup and dry kon lou topped with their signature braised duck meat. Soup base boiled more than an hour with about 7 herbals which you cannot missed, and home made soya sauce for the dry kon lou will be the best matching taken with best texture braised duck meat. Moreover, their Wantan Mee which served either in soup or kon lou with home made fried onion oil, which sided with boiled ‘wantan’ and their recipe ‘char siew’ either in deep fried or braised too one of the most wanted by their regulars and visitors. Fresh vegetables and for those who take rice can try their oil rice topped with braised duck meat also one of the recommended signature in menu.
