BEING 30 YEARS HISTORY, SINCE 1983 TWO-GENERATION BRAISED DUCK BY TAN FAMILY EXPLOSURE IN JOHOR
\Traditional Teo Chew cooking been famously exposed nowadays in Malaysia, not only one of the most favourite by locals but also having great response from visitors especially in South Malaysia, the State of Johor. The Tan Family who presenting “Braised Duck” since year 1983 reached 30 years history been generation passed on to the 2nd generation. The local Johorean Mr. Tan Eng Hock who born in year 1958 at Batu Pahat, Johor was the founder and immediate owner of the local well known “Restoran Sin Hai Cheng” braised duck having two outlets recently in Johor Bahru.
Tan Eng Hock who with his age of 56 years old currently, touched the food and beverage industry since teenager helping in his uncle food stall serving traditional Teo Chew Rice Porridge at his hometown Batu Pahat, Johor. While in year 1976 at his age of 18, Eng Hock initially stepped into the industry by recruited himself into a local chinese cuisine restaurant as kitchen trainee in hometown served for about 5 years to became a kitchen helper. With the experience hold, later on he tried established his very first food stall at Kampung Segunting, Batu Pahat presenting Char Kuey Teow in a kopitiam to further sharpen his career for about a year at his 23 years old.
Afterwards, Eng Hock been given a chance to handling his uncle’s chinese cuisine restaurant for a year before he touched the duck supplies industry under-employed from hometown Batu Pahat then transferred to Johor Bahru. Fortunately in year 1983, Eng Hock grapped the opportunity given by his duck supplies employer to take over a chinese cuisine restaurant in Skudai, Johor then named “Restoran Sin Hai Cheng” introducing and serving his home recipe brasied duck to the public untill recent over 30 years history.
His second generation who touched the industry since kids during school off helping parents in the restaurant enabled Eng Hock to generation passed on his home recipe for further explosure. Tan Tiek Keong (eldest son), Tan Wei Sien (3rd son) and Alex Tan Wei Jian (youngest son) who stepped into the industry been strenghten their experience in the restaurant, later on with the supports from father and family enabled Alex Tan to expose their 2nd outlet at Taman Mount Austin in the year 2014.
In this braised duck specialize restaurant, surely the top recommended in menus will be their 30 years history home recipe Signature Braised Duck Meat which according to the founder Tan Eng Hock, raw local duck with weight of 3kg will be the most suitable to braised for 45 minutes after cleaning with his home recipe soup base using more than 20 chinese herbals and ingredients to bring the best exotic taste.
