TWO GENERATION 36 YEARS STEAMED SOUP BY TANS’ FAMILY FOUNDED BY TAN TIAN SWEE IN YEAR 1978
“Steamed Soup” a Chinese traditional taken since thousand years ago, nowadays still frequently served especially in a more than thirty years history “Swee Kee Steamed Soup” in South Malaysia. The local origin Mr. Tan Tian Swee who born in Batu Pahat, Johor in year 1937 with wife Madam Tan Boo Tan were the founders of the “Kedai Makanan & Minuman Swee Kee” steamed soup and curry fish head, currently been operating by his four sons in Johor and Melacca, serving their home recipe choices of steamed soups to the locals and visitors.
Tan Tian Swee who at his age of 77 years old recently, stepped into the food and beverage industry since year 1978 at his age of 41 years old with wife running their very first mobile road side food stall initially selling goat soup along Jalan Jenang, Batu Pahat for about seven years reached 1985, successfully established their 1st shop at Jalan Abu Bakar named “Swee Kee Mee Hun Kuey” also serving traditional ‘Mee Hun Kuey’ and Claypot Pork Trotter with Sea Cucumber to variety their menus to the public.
In year 1990 due to the marker demand, Tan Tian Swee have converted his restaurant into a chinese herbals steamed soup specialized shop with curry fish head established “Kedai Makanan & Minuman Swee Kee” steamed soup in one shop lot, then expanded into recently two lots since year around 2005 with great response from their regulars. His children who since kids helping in the restaurant have been committed and generation passed, continued to operate in 1990s by Mr. Tan Teck Lee, Tan Teck Kwe, Tan Teck Gee and Tan Teck Chuan.
In order to expose further, they established first outlet at Taman Setia Jaya running by Tan’s forth son Teck Kwe and in year 2014 running another outlet in Melacca by fifth son Teck Gee. While Teck Lee and youngest son Teck Chuan based in the main outlet to serve their regulars and locals.
