THE 55 YEARS SECOND GENERATION TRADITIONAL WANTAN MEE AND CURRY CHICKEN RECENTLY PRACTISED BY WU KUM WING

“Wantan Mee” is one of the traditional noodles taken mostly by Chinese religious since thousand years ago formerly known as ‘Tok-Tok Mee’ still frequently practised untill today. Madam Soh Ah Yong (1925-2008) who originated from China was the founder of “Yoke Kee” wantan mee, and recently operating by second generation Johorean Mr. Wu Kum Wing who born locally in Kluang, Johor in year 1963, who also the current owner of the more than half century wantan mee restaurant in Johor.
Madam Soh who reached Malaysia, later on came South Malaysia based in Kluang, Johor founded and began her very first and owned food stall selling home recipe traditional wantan mee at the Kluang town Metro Market in year 1959 initially name “Yoke Kee” wantan mee. Spent more than 30 years exposed her f&b career been assisted by family members having great response from the public enabled to generation passed onto today.
While Madam Soh’s son Wu Kum Wing who with his age of 51 years old recently, touched the industry since teenagers helping mother in their food stall during holiday and school off. Later on joined the Florist Industry untill year 1993, then take up the commitment to stepped fully into f&b industry took over to run his mother’s food stall for another 7 years at the Metro Market, Kluang.
In order to further his explosure in the career and demand on the market, Wu Kum Wing successfully expanded to moved into a shoplot at Jalan Persiaran Dato Haji Ismail Hassan (current location) continue presenting his mother’s recipe in year 2000 registered as “Yu Ki” wantan mee and curry chicken untill recent. While his wife Lim Siew Siew who also formerly in Florist Industry quit and joined husband in their specialized shop since year 2004 together on their journey.
In this more than half century history restaurant, the first recommended will be their two generation home traditional recipe Wantan Mee, which mostly served in dry kon lou as cantonese style. Wantan noodles mixed with their home made 4 ingredients soya sauce taste slight salty topped with home made char siew slice and veges, sided with bowl of in-house minced pork wrapped wantan will be the perfect combination you must dropped by when reached Kluang, Johor.
Secondly will introduce their Signature Curry Chicken which served either with rice or noodles. Home cooked curry paste with about 6 ingredients which need to be fried for 2 hours is the reason why their regulars coming for. Curry paste then boiled with local fresh chicken for another half hour brings the best eatery in town and presenting the exotic taste of salty, sweet and spicy that you cannot missed once stepped into the shop with options of Curry Chicken Rice and Curry Chicken Noodle.
Besides, for those who like spicy can try their Curry Mee Soup made from Wu’s 5 ingredients curry soup served topped mixed with home roasted char siew slices, cockles, fish cakes, dried tau kee and beansprout. A complete bowl of Yu Ki’s famous curry mee, also one of the most wanted by their regulars and visitors.
Nonetheless, in order to various the menu choices allowed them to introduce Mee Hun Kueh in curry soup, dry kon lou and clear soup base.
