The local origin husband and wife, Mr. Ng Kong Hoi who born in year 1951 in Kluang, Johor together with wife Madam Sek Kong Lin born in 1955 were the founders of “Restoran Kong Hui” at Jalan Lambak. Recently being operating by daughter and son in-law been generation passed onto their home recipe presenting to the public in Johor, Malaysia.
Ng Kong Hoi who with his age of 63 years old recently, formerly was a taxi driver initially stepped into food and beverage industry with Madam Sek or known ‘Ah Mei’ in year 1980, in order to earn more income to commit their family life as vision at the beginning. Established their very first and owned food stall selling curry mee and wantan mee, then moved to Taman Lian Seng continued their roadside stall for few years untill 1985, later on another few years running stall along Jalan Lambak, all the while been assisted by their children helping in the stall during school off and holidays.
In order to expose further and opportunity grapped, Mr. Ng and Ah Mei reached East Malaysia stepped into Sabah in year 1988 joined and practised in western and local cuisine career for about 9 years explosure there before returned to home town Kluang, Johor. While in year 1997, they again running a food stall in ‘Long Xiang Kopitiam’(pronouns) at Taman Intan, Kluang serving western food menus and chinese desserts selection for another five years.
Subsequent to the great response from the public, enabled them to expand into a shoplot at Jalan Lambak (current location) began their very 1st restaurant named “Restoran Kong Hui” in year 2002. Later on been took over and operating currently by their 2nd generation daughter Ng Li Fong (born 1977) and husband Mr. Teng Chai Joen (born 1971) who formerly in Interior Construction Industry, since year 2012.
In this restaurant, the top recommended in menu will be Ah Mei’s home recipe Curry Mee. Home made curry paste with twelve ingredients then boiled for about 2 to 3 hours before poured into fresh coconut milk brings the best eatery found in Kluang, Johor. Served topped with their choices of home made yong tau fu in bowl of their curry mee you must try when reached Kluang.
The first and the only one Hainanese Black Pepper Pork Meat Noodle is the signature in this restaurant. Soup base boiled with pork bones, matured chicken and yellow beans for about 7-8 hours cooked with round rough rice noodle served topped with stewed pork, peanuts, salted veges, sesame and added into slight lime & black pepper powder brings a complete set of the Kluang’s only Hainanese Black Pepper Pork Noodle you cannot missed.
Besides, their Dumpling which wrapped insided with mixture of marinated pork minced with 5 home recipe ingredients, carrot shredded and onions etc also the best seller in side order corner you never regret after taken. Moreover, their home made yong tau fu insided with mixtures of fish (yellow tail or ‘ma jiau’ fish) and pork minced meat are among those most wanted by their regulars and visitors.
Another cannot aside menu will be their traditional Hakka Yam Rice with Pork Mix Soup. Yam rice cooked with yam cutted into cube added into dried shrimp then poured into their 8 hours boiled soup base and slight fried onion oil comes out a bowl of yam rice with unforgetable experience after consumed in the “Restoran Kong Hui”.
