The brothers who originated from Perak Mr. Tan Chin Haur who born in year 1981, younger brother Mr. Tan Chin Herh (born 1985) and best friend Mr. Tan Jiann Woei (born 1985) who is Penang origin, were the founders and immediate owners of the “Khee Hiang Claypot” restaurant introducing their home recipe claypot dishes in South Malaysia, running 2 outlets recently in Penang.

Chin Haur and Chin Herh who grown up in f&b family, touched the industry since kids helping in father’s chinese cuisine and seafood restaurant in Perak.  Their father Mr. Tan Ah Ba who born 1953 with age of 61 years old currently, also an experienced Chef, initially established his restaurant named “Khee Hiang Restaurant” in year 1986 in Pekan Baru, Perak being generation passed onto his home recipe to sons enabled them to take over the restaurant and to expose further recently running their claypot specialized shops in Penang.

Chin Haur who with his age of 33 currently, was in IT Industry been experienced as kitchen helper in their restaurant since year 1994 at his 13 years old.  While younger brother Chin Herh who at his 29 years old recently was formerly an Engineer after his studies stepped into food industry around 20 years old as kitchen trainee spent years to become a Chef at his age of 24 in 2009, in the year the brothers took over to operate their family restaurant career from father running reached year 2013 in Perak.

While Jiann Woei who also formerly an Engineer, from teenager having great interest in eatery and wishing to expose in the career, decided to join the Tan brothers established their very first owned claypot specialized shop in Bayan Baru, Penang in year 2014 formally named “Khee Hiang Claypot”.  Subsequent to the great response from the market allowed them to expand into another outlet along Jalan Rangoon, Georgetown in the same year introducing their home recipe menus mainly served in claypot.

In these claypot specialist, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Claypot Peppermint Prawn.  Using fresh sea ‘Ming Prawn’ prepared with their more than 10 ingredients mixture stired for about 25 minutes then served in claypot brings the exotic taste spicy and sweet you must have a try when reached Penang.  Pouring the sauce soup onto their imported rice noodle or locally known ‘kuey teow’ you never ever taste before.

Secondly will be their signature Claypot Siam Sea Bass Fish Meat.  Local fresh seafood also called ‘grouper fish’ meat selected prepared with their home recipe boiled 25 minutes in thai cuisine spices brings the sour and spicy taste, will be the favourites by those who likes spicy.  Also one of their top selling in the restaurant.

Moreover, the Claypot Fish Ball Soup will be among the top recommended by the owners.  Home made fish ball from fresh fish paste made in-house using local ‘Ma Jiao’ fish cooked in their soup base brings the freshness and especially the chewing textures itself when bites you never regret after tasted.

Another will be the Claypot Chestnut Pork Leg prepared in their generation passed onto home recipe by father.  Local fresh pork trotter stewed an hour with more than 10 ingredients mixture added into chestnut then served boiled in claypot will be one of their traditional chinese cuisine selection, and the most wanted by their regulars.
