In the competitive food and beverage industry explosure, especially in our best eatery state Penang among the nation,  “Seafood” always the favourites by locals and visitors practised everywhere in the city since 19th century is one of our country’s rich minerals attraction to visitors.  Here we recognised an authentic home recipe seafood restaurant carried by the more than 25 years experience Chef Keng Chong in Butterworth.

The local originated Mr. Ang Keng Chong who born in year 1975 was the founder and recently is the immediate owner of the local well known “Keng Chong Seafood” restaurant, being assisted by lovely wife Ms. Chuah Kim Yean (born 1981) introducing their home recipe menus selection to the public along Jalan Permatang Pauh, Butterworth.

Ang Keng Chong who with his age of 40 years old currently, also the restaurant’s main chef, initially stepped into the industry since year 1988 at his age of only 13 years old worked as a shop helper in the ‘Double Dragon Coffee House’(pronouns) at Permatang Pauh, Butterworth began his career for about 4 years.  Afterwards reached the capital city Kuala Lumpur joined a restaurant as kitchen helper continue exposed in his profession at Selayang Jaya.

While in year 1994, Keng Chong decided to return to his home town Penang, then running his very first owned noodle food stall began his enterprenuership.  At his age of 21, with the experiences hold allowed him to stepped and practised his home recipe seafood menus running a seafood stall at Taman Bagan for a year then moved into the “Golden Hill Coffee Shop”(pronouns) in year 1998 operating for another 10 years where the “Keng Chong Seafood” began.

Subsequent to the great response from the market enabled Mr. Ang further his expansion established his very owned seafood restaurant specialized house with wife along Jalan Permatang Pauh, which is the recent location, and officially named “Keng Chong Seafood Restaurant” in year 2008 presenting all his outstanding seafoods selection to the locals.

In the restaurant, the first top recommended by founder will be their Signature Lemon Steamed Fish.  Deep sea red fish or grouper fish selected prepared with their in-house lemon sauce and spices steamed for about 10 minutes, then served topped with chillies and garlic shredded brings the sour and spicy taste you must have a try.  Especially the fish freshness brought out into the steamed sauce will be the best exotic choices.

Seceondly will be their Sizzling Pineapple Prawn, also the top seller in prawn selections.  Sea ‘Ming Prawn’ used after deep fried, then served boiled in sizzling plate with their stir fried home sauce made up from the mixtures of Keng Chong’s more than 10 ingredients recipe with pineapple cube brings the exotic spicy taste cannot found in others.  Is one of the most wanted especially for those who like prawn and spicy.

Another will be their Signature Seafood Beancurd, which using home made beancurd made from fresh soya milk and chicken egg steamed in-house.  Prepared after deep fried then served topped with authentic seafood mixtures such like cuttlefish, squid, fish maw, scallop and beans, fried mixed with home sauce is one of the best eatery in town cannot aside.

The Stewed Pork Trotter with mushroom also one of the Chef’s recommended in the restaurant which available in limited served daily.  Local pork trotter selected prepared in 2 hours boiled with their home recipe of 10 ingredients mixture, added into veges and mushroom presenting a top class eatery you will never regret after taken.  The authentic exotic taste and the meats texture itself made you cannot believe to be served in this seafood restaurant, as like in a five star hotel dinning.

Lastly found their Sizzling Squid which also the most wanted by regulars in this restaurant.  Fresh sea squid prepared with their in-house home made sambal sauce from spices made up from 10 ingredients mixture, then served on sizzling plate topped with lady finger, petai vege and onions you cannot missed when reached “Keng Chong Seafood Restaurant” at Jalan Permatang Pauh, Penang.
