The Perak originated Madam Leet Ho who born in year 1937 was the founder of “Onn Kee” Ipoh beansprout chicken, recently exposed into four outlets in Ipoh, Perak running by 2nd generation, and another brought into Pulau Pinang by 3rd generation having great response and supports by locals for the past half decade.
Madam Leet Ho who at her age of 78 years old currently, formerly was a Blue Collar worker, stepped into the f&b industry since year 1969 running her very first roadside noodle stall (night) with sister selling chicken shredded beansprout hor fan, curry mee and laksa. Later on demamd by the market made their boiled chicken and beansprout served seperately, and moved into a shoplot along Jalan Yau Tet Shin, Ipoh further her explosure in the career untill today, as the main where “Onn Kee” Ipoh Beansprout Chicken began.
While her grand daughter Ms. Cheng Li Theng, 3rd generation, who born 1986 in Perak together with husband Mr. Teh Teng Hong (born 1975) originated from Penang, both are the immediate owners of the “Ipoh Onn Kee Tauge Ayam” beansprout chicken specialized shop running in Bukit Mertajam introducing their grandmother’s home recipe to the locals.
Li Theng initially touched the career since her age of 7 years old helping grandmother in the restaurant, been passed onto generation recipe at her age of about 18 years old. In year 2011, she reached Penang established her very 1st food stall at Kota Permai with husband Teng Hong for only half a year, then moved to Kampung Baru Bukit Mertajam continue serving their home recipe beansprout chicken for another few years. With the great response enabled the couple established their very owned specialized chicken rice shop in Seri Impian, Bukit Mertajam in year 2015 and officially named “Ipoh Onn Kee Tauge Ayam” further their expose in the industry as 3rd generation.
In this chicken rice restaurant, the owners top recommended among menus surely will be their traditional 3 generation recipe on Boiled Chicken which with options of Meat Chicken, Beard Chicken and Kampung Chicken all from fresh local feedings. Chicken boiled for an hour in their whole long day boiled soup base brings the best smoothness you must have a try. Especially the chicken meats texture itself.
