THE LIM FAMILY, FATHER & SON PRESENTING THEIR HOME SIGNATURE CHINESE CUISINE MENUS TO THE PUBLIC IN “THIN YEN”

Found everywhere in our nation, frequently practised chinese cuisine & seafood restaurant serving respective home recipe selections to the locals.  Here in Butterworth, Pulau Pinang we found and recognised the “Restoran Thin Yen” by Lim family introducing various of their authentic chinese and seafood cuisines having great response from the market.

The local originated Mr. Lim Chin Keong who born in year 1968 was the founder, together with lovely wife Ms. Choong Sai Eng (born 1971) are the recent owners of the local well known “Restoran Thin Yen” along Jalan Kg. Paya, Butterworth into 15th years explosure in the market.  Being assisted recently by elder son Lim Chun Hou who with his age of 22 years old, also the restaurant’s main chef.

Lim Chin Keong or known Ah Keong who at his age of 47 years old recently, formerly was in Automobile Trading industry stepped into the food and beverage industry since year 2000 after economy crisis 1997.  Ah Keong began his very first restaurant at Bukit Mertajam running with wife Sai Eng for about a year but unsuccessfull, then started a food stall in a coffee shop at Raja Uda, Butterworth serving Chinese & Thai cuisines where Ah Keong touched his chefing career, with name “Thin Yen”.

With the experience hold and wishing to expose further in the career, in the year 2002 he established his very first and owned chinese & seafood restaurant named “Restoran Thin Yen” off Jalan Raja Uda exposed more than 10 years introducing his home recipe signature menus under a roof.  While in year 2011, his son Chun Hou who is a graduates from chefing association in Kuala Lumpur joined and took over father’s place as the restaurant’s main chef since age 18, sharpen his profession in the industry.

Subsequent to the great improvement and response from public, enabled the Lim family expanded and moving into the 3-storey shoplot, which is the recent location, continued their explosure in year 2012 along Jalan Kg. Paya and being recognized in year 2015 as one of the best in town.

In this restaurant, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Thai Style Pork Trotter.  Fresh local pork trotter selected and marinated with their in-house 5 ingredients recipe then steamed for 7 hours before deep fried.  Pork trotter served on their home sauce made from 3 spices brings the exotic sweet, sour and spicy taste you must have a try when reached Butterworth.  Especially the meats texture itself when bites.

Secondly will be Ah Keong’s signature Deep Fried Prawn named ‘Steel Web Golden Dragon’.  Prepared using sea ‘Ming’ prawn wrapped with salted egg yolk and chinese sausage then deep fried with flur, then served cutted into 2-sided brings the unbelievable taste only in this restaurant which you never regret after consumed.  Taken crispy in bites and tipping onto chilli sauce provided, will be restaurant’s top seller.

Another will be their Signature Thin Yen Beancurd, which prepared with home made beancurd from mixture of fresh soya milk and egg steamed for 25 minutes.  Then deep fried in smaller cubes, served topped with their in-house recipe sauce stir fried with their 7 ingredients mixtures and pork minced will be one of the best eatery in town you cannot aside.

Moreover, the Baba Steamed Fish also among the recommended.  Stingray fish commonly favourites by the regulars steamed 12-13 minutes then served poured onto founder’s secret recipe ‘Baba Sauce’ from 7 recipes mixtures brings oustanding sour and spicy taste mosted wanted by their regulars and visitors.

Nonetheless, their Treasure Platted or locally known ‘Poon Choi’ also introduced in this restaurant with order 1 day before.  Prepared in 18 insided with respective recipes such dried scallop, dried oyster, dried beancurd skin, fish slice, prawn, fish maw, chicken, marinated duck, pork trotter, mushroom, sea cucumber, abalone slice etc you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Thin Yen” at Butterworth, Pulau Pinang.
