“Noodle Soup” and “Tom Yam” are among those favourites by local in North Malaysia since years ago, recently can be found everywhere especially in Pulau Pinang.  Here, we recognized one of the best noodle house “Cun Jia” running by Kang family in 2 generation exposed at Butterworth.

The Kedah originated Mr. Kang Teik Chye who born in year 1966 was the founder of the local well known “Kedai Makanan Cun Jia”, together with wife Ms. Tan Siew Beoh (born 1970) are the recent immediate owners of the noodle house introducing their home recipe pork noodle soup, seafood porridge and tom yam along Jalan Raja Uda with assisted by elder daughter Kang Ee Hui (born 1994) and younger son Kang Kim Choon (born 1998).

Kang Teik Chye or known Ah Chye who with his age of 49 years old currently, touched the industry since his age of only 10 in 1976 helping mother in their wantan noodle stall at Parit Muntah.  Later on initially stepped into the f&b industry in year 1983 recruited himself into the “Bao Dao Restaurant”(pronouns) in Kuala Lumpur as kitchen trainee for years, then joined the “Kim Loong Restaurant” in year 1985 further his explosure in the field.

While in year 2000, Ah Chye returned to his home town Parit Muntah established his very first and owned noodle house named “Bai Ling” restaurant with wife introducing their home recipe pork mix noodle and seafood porridge reached year 2005 then moved to Nibong Tebai to expose further, where Ah Chye home made tom yam began.

With the mission of expansion and foreseen the market opportunity in Butterworth made the couple decided to reached Raja Uda in year 2008 established their “Kedai Makanan Cun Jia” continued serving their menus to the local public, having great response from the market and being recognised in year 2015 to be one of the best in town.

In this noodle house, Ah Chye’s top recommended will be their Pork Mix Noodle Soup.  Soup base boiled 3 hours with pork bones used to cook mixed with fresh pork slice, pork minced, pork skin, stomach, intestine, liver then poured into their most important in-house soya sauce mixture made from 5 ingredients served topped with home made pork oily and fried onion you must have a try when reached Pulau Pinang.  Especially taken tipping onto their chilli sauce provided.

Secondly will be their Dry Kon Lou Pork Mix Noodle.  Noodles or commonly Hor Fun being selected prepared mixed with founder’s 3 ingredients mixtures soy sauce and served sided with a bowl of their pork mix soup with same insided as noodle soup you cannot aside.  Brings another exotic taste, to be one of the regulars wanted in the restaurant.

Another is their Tom Yam Noodles, which prepared by Ah Chye’s home cooked tom yam paste made from 8 ingredients recipe fried for an hour.  In-house pork soup base cooked mixed with tom yam paste and insided with prawn, deep fried fish fillet, fish ball, meat ball, cuttlefish and small lobster prawn brings the sour and spicy taste you never regret after consumed.

Moreover, their Teoh Chew Seafood Porridge also among the recommended.  Porridge boiled 20 minutes in Teow Chew style served with in-house pork soup base mixed into seafoods such prawn, fish ball, fresh fish slice, cuttlefish etc and tooped with their home made deep fried onions and pork oily will be one of the best eatery in town.

For those who like pork mix but not noodles can try their Teoh Chew Pork Porridge.  Prepared as their seafood porridge, served mixed with pork minced, pork slice and pork internals will brings another authentic eatery you cannot missed when stepped into the “Kedai Makanan Cun Jia” at Taman Anggerik, Butterworth.
