There is more than thousands of chinese cuisine and seafood restaurants in our nation with respective dinning serves accordingly.  But here in North Malaysia, Butterworth we found to be recognised “The Grandville” carried by the Tan’ brother and sister having great response from the public serving fine dinning under a roof.

The local Penang originated Mr. Tan Kean Kheng who born in year 1980 was the founder, and also the only immediate recent owner of the well known chinese fine dinning cuisine restaurant “The Grandville” in Taman Tanjung Aman, Butterworth introducing their chef’s authentic home recipe menus to the locals is growing and being recognized as one of the best in year 2015.

Tan Kean Kheng who at his age of 35 years old currently, was in IT Solution industry who having great interest in eatery and extremely emphasising food quality initially stepped into the f&b industry at his age of 26 years old.  From there he experienced in restaurant set up and successfully established his very first and owned seafood restaurant named “Northen Coastal Seafood” in year 2008 at Pantai Bersih, where he began his career in the industry.

With the positive response from market and with the mission to have a fine dinning restaurant enabled Kean Kheng to establish “The Grandville” chinese cuisine restaurant at Butterworth in year 2013 with 2 lots, then exposed into another lot after a year.  In assisted by sister Ivy Tan Shiao Chen (born 33) on management and brought into running kitchen by Chef Chong Meng Man with age of 48 years old recently, who having more than 30 years chefing experience as their restaurant’s Main Chef.

In this restaurant, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Chinese New Year top seller Mixture Treasure Pot or locally known ‘Poon Choi’, which need prior order.  Ten insided such abalone, prawn, trotter tendon, sea cucumcer, scallop, dried oyster, duck, chicken etc all prepared on chef’s in-house recipe sauce made from 4 ingredients mixtures boiled whole day long then steamed and served in claypot you must try when reached North Malaysia.

While in main course, they introduced their signature Bread with Prawn insided which home made only found in this restaurant.  Sea ‘Ming’ prawn commonly selected stir freid with their home made nyonya sauce with 7 spices brings the spicy, sweet and exotic taste served insided into their deep fried bread will be one of the best eatery in town.  Especially the prawn taste textures when bites, and the crispy tasty bread’s outer when taking into mouth.

Another among recommended will be their Salted Egg Crab, is the regulars most wanted.  Crab’s clam imported boiled cooked then fried with salted egg yolk brings very authentic classic crab meats texture and freshness you never regret after consumed.  Will be the founder’s and chef’s together best introduce in the restaurant.

In a fine dinning restaurant for sure will serve Chinese Traditional Treasure Bowl or known in chinese ‘Fat Tiew Ceong’.  But unlike others, they serve individual pax or for 2 which prepared in combination of herbal veges, fins, fish maw, fish lips, mushroom, sea cucumber and the very special in ‘The Grandville’ is they boiled with ‘Kampung Chicken’ served after half day steamed, not black skin chicken which commonly seen in other chinese cuisine.

Moreover, their Stewed Pork Belly or ‘Tung Po Rou’ also among the famous here.  Fresh local pork belly selected boiled after watering, then stewed few hours with their 9 ingredients recipe served cutted into cubes brings very exotic and sweet taste you cannot aside.  Especially the meats and fats level consumed into mouth.

Nonetheless, they also introduced one of the signature German Deep Fried Pork Trotter.  Also one of the most wanted by visitors which prepared in deep fried after half day marinated with chef’s in-house recipes, then served sided with home made sweet & sour sauce you cannot missed when stepped into “The Grandville” fine dinning chinese cuisine restuarant in Butterworth, Pulau Pinang.
