JOO HUAT SPENT HIS 30 YEARS IN THE ROASTED FIELD, RECENTLY BEING RECOGNIZED IN THE “YONG KEAT” ROASTED SPECIALIZED SHOP
The “Roasted Mix” from decade is one of the local favourites eatery especially by chinese religious, practised everywhere in our country with respective home recipes. We found the 30 years experience Mr. Lim introducing his roasted mix in “Yong Keat” at Georgetown having great response from the public, and being recognised in year 2015 as one of the best in town.
The local originated Mr. Lim Joo Huat who born in year 1971 was the founder, and together with wife Ms. Tan Guat Sim (born 1973) both are the recent immediate owners of the local well known “Yong Keat Chicken Rice” roasted house introducing their home recipes to the locals in Sungai Ara and along Jalan Perak.
Lim Joo Huat who at his age of 44 years old currently, stepped into the food and beverage industry at his age of only 14 years old in 1985 recruited himself into a chicken rice stall in ‘Rong Xiang Kopitiam’(pronouns) as trainee, where he began his career in f&b spent 7 years there to expose his profession in roasted mix field.
Later on in year 1992, at his 21st of age running his very first and owned roadside food stall at Bayan Baru named “Yong Keat”, and where his wife Guat Sim stepped into the industry assisting husband serving their home made roasted mix to the locals, then moved into the ‘SunShine Hypermarket Foodcourt’ reached year 1999 further their explosure.
Subsequent to the great response on their foods and the opportunity grapped, enabled Joo Huat and wife moved into base location at Sungai Ara, which is the recent outlet, with name “Yong Keat Chicken Rice” began year 1999 then exposed into their 1st roasted mix specialized shop in 2014 along Jalan Perak, being assisted by their sons.
In these roasted mix eating houses, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Roasted Pork or local known ‘Char Siew’. Pork belly selected, marinated overnight with their 4 ingredients mixture then roast for about half an hour with no touched up at outer level brings the freshness sweet when bites you must have a try when reached Georgetown, the world herritage site in Malaysia.
Another will be their Roasted Pork Belly, also their top seller in the restaurant. Local fresh pork belly selected, marinated overnight with 3 home spices then roast for about 50 minutes brings the crispy skin level and the exotic meats texture when taken into mouth you never regret after consumed. Will be one of the best eatery found in the history town by “Yong Keat” roasted house.
In a roasted mix restaurant surely cannot aside Roasted Chicken, which also among their signature most wanted by regulars. Local feeded chicken with weight of about 1.6kg used without marinated, deep fried for 10 minutes then touched up outer with home recipe sugar paste brings the authentic sweet taste likes by their visitors.
Moreover, the founder’s strong introduction will be their Roasted Duck which served while stock last daily. Local fresh duck with 2.6kg commonly selected, marinated with his secret 6 ingredients recipe without herbals then dried-up, and roast for 45 minutes brings salted and exotic taste you cannot aside. Especially the tasty skin level and meats texture itself when putting into mouth.
Other than meats, their Spicy Veges Soup also must not missed when stepped into the local famous “Yong Keat Chicken Rice” in Pulau Pinang. This delicious soup prepared boiled an hour with mixed into assam, dried chilli, veges, duck and chicken bones brings salted and spicy taste likes by almost of their regulars and visitors.
