TASTE THE HANDMADE PAN MEE & FISH HEAD NOODLE IN “WENG SOON FATT DIM SUM” RESTAURANT BY JASON KOK
Unbelievable, we found to recognise the “Handmade Pan Mee” and “Fish Head Noodle” eateries in a dim sum restaurant “Weng Soon Fatt” carried by Jason’s family in North Malaysia, Perak having great response from the visitors. Being known as one of the best eating house in town, also presenting their homemade chinese dim sum selections under a roof.
The local originated Mr. Jason Kok Yen Fatt who born in year 1967, was the founder of the local well known “Weng Soon Fatt Dim Sum Restaurant”, recently together with his wife Jennifer Leong Lai Mun (born 1968) are the owners of the restaurant introducing their signature menus to the public at Gunung Rapat, Perak.
Jason Kok who at his age of 48 years old currently, was formerly in Chinese Herbal Industry, since young having great interest in eatery and food making initially touched the f&b industry since year 1984 at his age of 17 as helper at a roadside noodle stall in Ipoh, Perak for about 2 years before reached Singapore. Later in year 2000 travelled to Japan stayed 2 years in Automobile Industry.
While in year 2002, Jason returned to Malaysia joined his aunty stepped into Chinese Herbal Industry experienced more than 10 years in the career. But with the great interest he has in making food, all the while wishing to re-step into f&b industry and like to have his own restaurant, enabled Jason successfully established his very 1st and owned restaurant along Jalan Besar, Gunung Rapat named “Weng Soon Fatt Dim Sum Restaurant” introducing his home recipe pan mee, fish head noodle and dim sum menus with assisted by his 3rd son Kok Wei Shun, only with age of 16 years old (born 1999) recently who having great interest in the field as father Jason Kok.
In this eating house, the founder Jason’s top recommended in menus will be their Handmade Soup Pan Mee which noodles fully prepared in-house. Soup base boiled 2 hours with yellow beans and ikan bilis, cooked insided with their handmade noodles then served topped with black fungus shredded, fried beancurd, pork minced, veges and deep fried ikan bilis you must have a try when reached Ipoh, Perak. Besides, their Dry Kon Lou Pan Mee prepared mixed with home recipe sauce mixture from 5 ingredients and sesame oil also one of the favourites by regulars.
Secondly will be their signature Fish Head Noodle, which is the top seller in the restaurant. Sea grouper fish head commonly selected, deep fried after marinated in home recipe then cooked in soup base mixed into salted veges, tomato, ginger and lime. Served poured into fresh milk and rice wine will brings the very authentic eatery you never regret after consumed. Is one of the best in town, especially the freshness and taste on their home fried delicious grouper fish head insided.
Of course among the dim sum section, the recommended will be their Siew Mai. Which prepared in mixture of fresh ‘ming prawn’ and pork marinated with Jason’s own recipes, wrapped then steamed for about 12-13 minutes before served you will like it. And also their roasted pork pao or locally known “Char Siew Pao” made with founder’s home roasted pork (char siew) insided, steamed 15 minutes before served.
Nonetheless, their steamed rice or Lo Mai Kai also the most wanted by visitors. Rice to be prepared in 8 hours watering, half cooked with Jason’s home recipe then mixed with marinated chicken, mushroom and chinese saugage. Served after another 10 minutes steamed you cannot missed when stepped into “Weng Soon Fatt Dim Sum Restaurant” at Ipoh, Perak.
