The Kedah originated Mr. Lim Chai Hock who born in year 1959 with wife Madam Lee Yoke Che born in Ipoh year 1958 are the immediate owners of the restaurant “Lim Ko Pi” in Ipoh, Perak.
Mr. Lim Chai Hock who at his age of 56 years old currently, is in Coal Mining Industry, with wife and eldest daughter Bay Sie all the while having great interest in eatery and wishing to maintain the historical & cultural symphony, in year 2007 decided to own some of the Ipoh Old Town ancient shop houses then converted into commercial to attract more visitors to the city in mission. Finally daughter Lim Bay Sie (born 1986), founder of “Lim Ko Pi”, with the supports from parents successfully established their very first and owned kopitiam restaurant introducing not only local traditional coffee selections, but also various authentic home recipe Malaysian cuisines to the public since year 2011.
While in year 2012, their son Alan Lim Bay Loon who at his age of 32 recently, holding his chefing experience returned from Singapore joined “Lim Ko Pi” as main chef and assisting mother to further their explosure in the f&b industry.
In this kopitiam, the owner’s top recommended in menus will be their Tiger Prawn Noodle. Home recipe curry paste prepared in an hour fried with more than 10 ingredient spices, then cook mixed with noodles, dried beancurd, long bean, beansprout, served topped with ‘Tiger Prawn’, onions & mint leaf, sided with their home made sambal sauce you must have a try when reached Ipoh, Perak.
Another will be their Triple Meat Curry, which also one of the top seller in this restaurant. In-house curry paste served topped with the 3 meats such BBQ pork, roasted pork belly and chicken shredded, and mixed with long beans, dried beancurd and mint leaf will be the best eatery in town, you never regret after taken. Especially their curry exotic taste when swallowed into mouth, and the meats texture itself.
The Northen Malaysian’s favourites Hokkien Prawn Noodle can also be tasted in this “Lim Ko Pi” on their chef’s recipe. Soup base boiled about 2 hours with prawn shells, then served mixed with fresh local prawn, BBQ pork, chicken shredded, fish cake, kangkong, beansprout and boiled chicken egg brings a complete bowl of their signature prawn noodle you cannot aside. Is also one of the most wanted by their regulars and visitors.
In beverage section, the owner introducing their home made Ais Kacang or locally known ABC Ice which prepared upon order. Mixtures of groundnuts, grassjelly, fruit jelly, cendol, red beans, ‘attap fruit’ and sweet corn, then served poured onto coconut milk and ‘gula melaka’ will be the best choice, having in this cultural and historical environmental kopitiam.
While in dessert corner, their custard pudding or known Cream Caramel strongly recommended. Prepared on mixture of chicken egg, milk, sugar and poured into caramel sauce then steamed for about 2 hours, served after frozen brings very exotic eatery you cannot missed after your meal in “Lim Ko Pi” kopitiam restaurant in Ipoh Old Town, Perak.
