TRY THE VERY “DIFFERENT TASTE” SEAFOOD CUISINE RECIPES WITH COMBINATION OF CHINESE & THAILAND RECIPES
Everywhere in our nation Malaysia frequently found seafood cuisine restaurants practised on respective recipes. And also plays very important role in the country’s tourism which attracted lots of visitors to taste our seafood selections in Malaysia, mostly served in chinese recipes. Here in Perak, we recognised one of the best eating house “Different Taste” seafood restaurant serving their menus with combination of local Chinese cuisine and Thailand recipes under a roof, really taste different to others.
The Kuala Lumpur originated Mr. Lim Hock Chai who born in year 1973, is the recent owner of the well-known “Different Taste” seafood restaurant in Bercham, Ipoh running with assistance with his main chef Ms. Arun Tan (born 1968) who is Thailand origin having nearly 20 experience in the local f&b industry in Malaysia. Introducing their home recipe eateries with combination of Local & Thai recipes to the public in Perak.
In year 1993, Arun Tan who reached Ipoh, Perak with husband Mr. Tan (Kedah origin) began their very first seafood stall in a coffee shop at Bercham, Ipoh introducing their home recipe to the locals, where Arun started to step into the industry assisting husband running about 4 years there. Later on in 1997 exposed into seafood restaurant also at Bercham, where she met Mr. Lim (recent owner) formerly was her regular customer likes their couple’s eateries very much.
In order to go further, Arun Tan and husband in year 2010 successfully established their restaurant named “Different Taste” at Taman Desa Kencana, Bercham continue presenting their menus to the locals and visitors, having great response. But unfortunately after her husband been passed away, Arun faced management and manpower problems where Mr. Lim Hock Chai offered to join and take over to run the restaurant with assisted by Arun and being recognised as one of the best restaurant in town year 2015.
In this seafood restaurant, the chef’s top recommended in menus will be their Signature Crab Grassnoodles which is the restaurant’s top seller with limited serves daily. Local or imported crab with at least 600 grams (either imported from Sabah or Indonesia) selected cooked in claypot on their 8 ingredients mixture added into quality grassnoodles, fresh pork slices, ginger slices and garlic brings very authentic eatery you must have a try when reached Ipoh, Perak.
Secondly will be their famous Fish Porridge which prepared in Teoh Chew style, either boiled with Grouper fish fillets or the local famous “Dao Dai” fish, also their regulars favourites. Rice boiled in claypot with their in-house prepared soup base added into local fresh sea “Dao Dao” fish cutted into slice pieces brings the exotic freshness when consumed you will never regret after tasted. Is one of the best eatery in town cannot aside.
Another will be their Chef Arun’s recipe Curry Ming Prawn prepared using local sea “Ming” prawn served boiled in claypot. Is their visitors most wanted among menus. Home fried curry paste for about 2 hours made up of more than 10 spices mixture, then cooked insided with fresh cleaned Ming prawn brings the prawn freshness and smooth curry when swallowed into mouth.
Other than seafood selections, their Stewed Pork Trotter on Thailand traditional recipe also one of the owner’s recommended. Pork trotter stewed for 1 & half hours with 10 ingredients mixture added into salted veges will brings salty & sweet taste you will like, and especially the trotter meats texture in bites.
Nonetheless, they also introduced the home recipe Kerapu Chicken Feet or locally known “Thai Style Crystal Chicken Feet” taken as appertizer by most of the locals. Boneless and cleaned local chicken feet being used served poured onto their 5 recipes sweet & sour sauce, taken topped with carrot & onion shredded, tomato slice, veges and peanuts you cannot missed when stepped into the “Different Taste” seafood restaurant at Bercham, Perak.
