DIM SUM CHEF TEOH’s 38 YEARS EXPOSURE BEING RECOGNISED IN “SONG KIM” RESTAURANT AT SUNGAI PETANI, KEDAH

Been thousand years “Dim Sum” being one of the authentic traditional eatery by Chinese religious around the world originated from China.  Recently exposed widely and creatively by carrier in the industry, also in our nation Malaysia found severals outstanding dim sum restaurants serving respective recipes to the market.  Here in Kedah, we found to recognised the “Restoran Dim Song Kim” at Sungai Petani lead by Chief Chef Teoh on his more than 35 years experience.

The local originated Mr. Teoh Khoon Seng who born in year 1965 was the founder, together with lovely wife Ms. Lim Yen Yen (born 1971) and Mr. Low Kok Wah (born 1970) are the recent owners of the well known “Restoran Dim Song Kim” introducing their more than 60 dim sum selections in menu at Taman Intan, Sungai Petani having great response from the public.

Teoh Khoon Seng or Chef Teoh who at his age of 50 currently, initially stepped into the f&b industry touched the dim sum career since year 1977 at his 12 of age recruited himself into a chinese restaurant at Ayer Itam, Penang began as kitchen trainee.  Later on further sharpen his profession joined another restaurant along Penang Road as helper for another about 5 years where he deeply experienced the career.  Teoh reached Kuala Lumpur at the end 1980s under-employed as Dim Sum Chef in the famous “Pi Li Gong”(pronouns) chinese cuisine restaurant before returned to North Malaysia.

In order to go further in the industry, Teoh began his very 1st partnership dim sum stall at Sungai Petani oldtown named “Kong Kee Dim Sum”, ended after few years.  Then in 1990s, Teoh successfully established his very owned dim sum food corner in a coffee shop at Taman Intan, Sungai Petani continue his explosure in the career, having great positive response from the locals enabled him in year 2011 began the “Restoran Dim Song Kim” dim sum specialize eating house and being recognised as one of the best in town today.

In Song Kim Dim Sum, the founder’s few top recommended in menus prepared on their homemade recipes and creation will be the Deep Fried Mee served using deep fried pan mee poured onto recipe sauce mixed with egg, fish slice, prawn and veges.  Fried Wantan Mee and Deep Fried Fish prepared using dolly fish, deep fried served topped with homemade sweet & sour sauce and vege shredded all you must try when reached Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Secondly will be some of their steamed dim sum selections such as Har Kao (prawn dumpling), Siu Mai (pork dumpling), Har Mai (pork dumpling topped with prawn), Spanich dumpling, seaweed dumpling etc all handmade daily to ensure freshness and served right after steamed you cannot aside.

Another will be some of the owner’s recommended Pao selections.  Their “Po Lo Pao” prepared roasted insided with home recipe char siew wrapped with handmade flur layers you never regret after tasted.  Also their fresh hot Steamed Char Siew Pao and Butter Milk Pao too the customers most wanted in this restaurant.

Moreover in sweeties side corner, you should try their Signature Deep Fried Prawn Rolls taken tipping onto their mayonnaise sauce provided.  Sweet Potato Rolls and Honey Yam prepared in deep fried, then served poured onto homemade honey recipe sauce will be one of the best eatery in town, exotic.

Nonetheless, their famous “Lo Mai Kai”, the steamed glutinous rice with home recipe sauce and meat mixtures will also among the recommended and one of the dim sum traditional top seller in a dim sum restaurant you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Dim Song Kim” at Taman Intan, Sungai Petani.
