THE NEARLY 30 YEARS “MING XIANG” PRESENTING THEIR AUTHENTIC CHARCOAL CLAYPOT BLACK PEPPER BAK KUT TEH @ KEDAH
Found everywhere in our nation Malaysia, the “Bak Kut Teh” on respective recipes. But here in the north, Kedah we found and recognised the well known “Ming Xiang Good Master Bak Kut Teh” introducing their homemade charcoal black pepper bak kut teh to the locals and visitors at Sungai Petani since year 2008.
The local originated Mr. Lim Ooi Kok who born in year 1945, was the founder and together with wife Madam Lee Kim Ken (born 1952 in Penang) are the immediate owners of the “Ming Xiang Seafood Restaurant” recently serving their exotic claypot bak kut teh, being assisted by younger brother Lee Lean Seang (born 1961) at Taman Ria, Sungai Petani which as one of the best eatery in town in year 2015.
Lim Ooi Kok, who also the Chairman of Sungai Petani Coffee Shop Association, at his age of 70 years old currently, initially stepped into the industry since his age of 30 in year 1975 with mother running their very first coffee shop at Sungai Petani new township named “Bright Hotel”. Where he tasted the “Ah Huat Bak Kut Teh”, one of the food stall in the restaurant, made him with the interest to have his bak kut teh career one day.
In year 1988, Ooi Kok with his wife Kim Ken established their coffee shop & restaurant at Taman Ria officially registered as “Ming Xiang Seafood Restaurant” to further their exposure in the industry. After 20 years in 2008, they began their “Ming Xiang Good Master Bak Kut Teh” in the restaurant, joined by Ah Seang (Lee Lean Seang) having great response from the public and being listed in the “1Malaysia Fabulous Food 2012″ by Tourism Board Malaysia as one of the authentic traditional awarded coffee shop in Kedah.
In Ming Xiang, the owner’s first top recommended in menus will be their Bak Kut Teh which served boiled in claypot. Soup base boiled one & half hours with mixtures of more than 10 chinese herbals above charcoal will be the reason to be the best eatery you must try when reached Sungai Petani. Prepared insided with spare ribs, pork trotter, belly pork, stomach and intestine will be served on customer’s demand. Served topped mixed with mushroom, dried beancurd and meat ball will be a complete pot of their Ming Xiang Bak Kut Teh.
Another will be their home creation in-house recipes, the Claypot Black Pepper Bak Kut Teh which also one of the restaurant’s top seller and regulars most wanted especially for those who like spicy. Soup base prepared added into high quality black pepper imported from Japan, served mixed inside with meats mixture boiled in claypot you never regret after tasted.
Moreover, other than bak kut teh, you also must taste their Oyster Sauce Vegetables. Veges option on demand boiled, then served poured onto their recipe oyster sauce and topped with homemade deep fried garlic oil will be the best eatery you cannot aside. Taken sided with their charcoal cooked bak kut teh will be the perfect match when dining in Ming Xiang.
Nonetheless, the owners also introduced their home recipe authentic traditional Fried Beansprout with Salted Fish which also among the regulars favourites. Just a simple home dish fried beansprout added into salted fish cubes, but brings very exotic taste you cannot missed when stepped into the “Ming Xiang Good Master Bak Kut Teh” at Taman Ria, Sungai Petani.
