ONE OF THE BEST, “WOO FOO LOU” INTRODUCING THEIR AUTHENTIC DIM SUM SELECTIONS IN ALOR SETAR @ KEDAH

Since decades ago, “Dim Sum” is the chinese religious traditional eatery still favourites recently.  Also one of the famous eatery today throughout our nation Malaysia taken by chinese, found commonly everywhere.  In the north, here at Alor Setar we found and recognised the best chinese dim sum restaurant “Woo Foo Lou” serving all their homemade dim sum menus to the locals and visitors.

The local originated Mr. Tay Lai Hock who born in year 1957 was the initial founder, together with his younger brother Mr. Tay Choi Leng (born 1963) are the owners of the local well known “Restoran Woo Foo Lou” dim sum & chinese cuisine eating house along Jalan Tandop Utama, Alor Setar presenting various of their home recipe eateries and dim sum choice to the public since year 2011.

Tay Lai Hock who at his age of 58 years old currently, initially stepped into the f&b industry since his age of 19 in year 1976 recruited himself into the “Da Jia Seafood Restaurant”(pronouns) began as kitchen trainee at Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur.  In order to expose further in the career, Lai Hock reached Johor and Singapore respectively experienced his profession, then been positioned as Chef at his age of 24 years old in Perak.

In year 1984, Lai Hock established his very 1st and owned seafood restaurant along Jalan Stadium, Alor Setar named “Xia Jong Xia”(pronouns), then another eating house after few years.  While in year 2002, he running the “Gui Ping Lou Restaurant” in Jalan Gangsa, where he touched into the dim sum field assisted by his chief dim sum chef from Ipoh, Perak.

Subsequent to the great response from the market, Lai Hock successfully moved and established the “Restoran Woo Foo Lou” dim sum & chinese restaurant in year 2011 at Taman Tandop, Kedah introducing their dim sum selections in the morning session, and chinese cuisine menus for lunch and dinner under a roof in better manner.

In Woo Foo Lou, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their Big Bun or locally known “Da Bao” which neither found in the town.  Prepared after steamed insided with pork, mushroom, sengkuang and chicken egg mixture with home recipe sauce brings very exotic taste, and the chewing meat texrures itself in bites you must try when reached Kedah.

Secondly will be their Steamed Prawn Dumpling or “Ha Kao”, which is one of their signature in the restaurant.  Fresh sea prawn wrapped insided with rice-made flur, served after minutes steamed will be the best in town.  And also their Vegetable & Prawn Dumpling, is among the recommended in menus.

Another will be their Steamed Chicken Feets, which is their regulars most wanted.  Local chicken feets selected, prepared in deep fried, marinated overnight with home recipe spices mixture then served after 10 minutes steamed brings sweet and slight spicy taste you never regret after consumed.

Moreover, cannot aside their “Siu Mai” (pork) which is one of the traditional dim sum eatery been favourites by all chinese religious.  For those who like scallop should try their Scallop Prawn Dumpling served topped with baby bamboo vege, which oftenly found elsewhere in the town.

Nonetheless, choices of thier Roasted Bun insided with mixtures of pork or known “char siew” & their homemade recipe sweet sauce you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Woo Foo Lou” dim sum eating house in Alor Setar, Kedah.
