TRY THE CHINESE GUANGXI CUISINE & SEAFOOD RECIPES SERVED IN HOU HOU KEE BY “CHEF CHEONG”

Commonly & easily tasted various chinese cantonese, hokkien or hakka cuisines carried by respective restaurants in our nation Malaysia, and lots of chinese seafood restaurants practised everywhere.  Here in the middle country, Perak we found and recognised one of the recommended chinese restaurant “Hou Hou Kee” presenting their chinese & seafood eateries in “GuangXi” recipes at Tanjung Malim.

Both the Pahang originated Mr. Wong Ka Cheong who born in year 1980 was the founder, together with his lovely wife Ms. Loong Fook Feng are the immediate owners of the local well known “Restoran Hou Hou Kee” introducing most of their selections on home recipes to the locals and visitors since year 2005 in Perak.

Wong Ka Cheong or known Chef Cheong, who also the restaurant’s main chef initially stepped into the industry since his age of 13 years old in 1993 recruited himself into the “Sin Chui Yuen”(pronouns) chinese restaurant at Subang Jaya, Selangor began as kitchen trainee spent 3 years there.  Later on spent another few years in Kuala Lumpur to further his exposure in the career.  While in year 2001, he being recognised as Chef Cheong in “The Magic Wok” at Damansara where he strengthen his profession.

With the experience hold and forseen the market opportunity in the industry, Chef Cheong decided to start his enterprenuer in Tanjung Malim, Perak in year 2005 running his very 1st owned food stall in a coffee shop along Jalan Wangsa Utama called “Hou Hou Kee”.  Where his wife Fook Feng stepped into the career assisting her husband Ka Cheong.

Subsequent to the great response from the public, in year 2011 enabled the couple established their first restaurant at Taman Wangsa Setia officially named “Restoran Hou Hou Kee”.  Then moved into wider shoplots extended since 2014 to further expose, which is the recent location.

 

In Hou Hou Kee, the founder’s top recommended in menus will be the Salted Egg Chicken which most wanted by visitors.  Chicken deep fried, then dry fried mixed into their home sauce recipes and salted egg bring spicy, salted & sweet taste you must have a try when reached Tanjung Malim.

Secondly will be their Signature Pepper Pork Stomach Soup, which is one of their top seller in the restaurant.  Soup base boiled at least 3 hours with in-house recipes, added into pepper imported from Sarawak, then served cooked insided with pork stomach brings very exotic soup eatery you will never regret after consumed.  And neither found elsewhere in the town.

Another will be Chef Cheong’s family home recipe GuangXi Steamed Fish, only in Hou Hou Kee.  Sea grouper fish selected, steamed with their in-house 5 ingredients mixture brings excellent spicy, salted & authentic fish freshness when swallowed into mouth you cannot aside.  Is one of the best choice in town for those who like steamed fish.

Moreover, the signature “Fung” Pork which is one of the GuangXi traditional eatery to be their regulars favourite.  Local fresh pork belly selected, home stewed at least 90 minutes in guangxi style with black sweet soy sauce brings exotic taste and classic eatery especially the pork meats texture itself.

Nonetheless, for those prawn lovers will surely like their Chef’s recommended Salad Prawn which prepared using sea “Ming” prawn deep fried with recipe flur, then served topped with homemade salad or mayonnaise sauce you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Hou Hou Kee” at Tanjung Malim, Perak.
