TASTE THE FRIED SHARK & SEAFOOD SPECIALIZED RECIPE IN “MEI HIONG” CARRIED BY NG FAMILY INTO 2ND GENERATION

There are lots of chinese cuisine and seafood restaurants in our nation located everywhere presenting their dishes on respective recipes, also in Pahang.  Here in Padang Lalang area we found and recognised a very specialise chinese seafood restaurant “Mei Hiong” not only serves various recipes selection, but also introducing their signature “Fried Shark Meats” to the public for more than 20 years.

The Perak originated Mr. Ng Ah Gan who born in year 1950 was the initial founder, together with wife Madam Chia Sock Kin who born (1954) in Selangor both are the owners of the local recommended “Restoran Mei Hiong” chinese seafood eating house at Kuantan, Pahang presenting their home recipes to the locals and visitors since year 1989.  Recently being assisted by son Ng Tek Long who at his age of 34 years old recently.

The founder Ng Ah Gan who at his age of 65 years old currently, was formerly in Fish & Seafood Supplies Industry, initially stepped into the food & beverage career since year 1989 together with wife Sock Kin running their restaurant serving simple homemade noodles such curry mee and economic mixed rice, where the “Mei Hiong” began.  And where the couple started their f&b career in Padang Lalang.

With the interest in eatery & chefing and the experiences & knowledges Ah Gan have in relation to seafoods from his previous career, Ah Gan decided to continue his explosure in the industry then further exposed and converted into seafood restaurant after few years registered as “Restoran Mei Hiong”.  Later in year 2002, moved to wider lots along Jalan Tanjung Api, which is the recent location.

While his son Ng Tek Long or known Ah Long who born in year 1981, from kids touched the career helping parents in the restaurant fully stepped into f&b in 1997 at “Mei Hiong”.  And being positioned as chef since his 24th of age, to be the restaurant’s 2nd generation.

In “Restoran Mei Hiong”, the owners first top recommended in menus will be their Fried Spicy Shark Fillets which is their best signature choice.  Fresh local shark meats prepared in cutted slices stir fried with their homemade spicy sauce made from 8 ingredients mixture, added into onions, gingers, soy beans and oyster sauce brings very exotic salted & spicy taste you must try when reached Kuantan, Pahang.

Secondly will be their Curry Fish Head, which also one of their customer’s most wanted in the restaurant.  Mostly deep sea fish head selected, boiled together with their in-house prepared curry paste made from more than 10 recipes mixture, then served mixed with some vegetables like lady finger, long beans and eggplant will be one of the best eatery in town.  Especially the authentic taste brought out when salted fish head added-in and the sticky curry paste sauce when swallowed into mouth you cannot aside.

Another will be their Signature Steamed Stingray, only in “Mei Hiong”.  This dish also to be one of the restaurant’s top seller.  Normally baby stingray selected, prepared in 5 minutes steamed with ginger shredded, soy beans and their home recipe spices brings the fish freshness and appertizing taste you never regret after taken.

Moreover, the founder also introduced their stired pork with the local Pahang’s delicacy eatery “salted fish”.  Pork belly commonly used, stir fried with salted fish and soy beans then served boiled in claypot brings exotic salted taste you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Mei Hiong” at Kuantan, Pahang.
