THE MALAYSIA’s TOP 10 BAK KUT TEH “YAT HING” AGAIN BEING RECOGNISED IN EAST COAST @ KUANTAN
As known and favourite by not only the locals, but also wanted by visitors when talk about “Bak Kut Teh” practiced since nearly a decade originated from Klang, Selangor. Here in the East Coast, Pahang we found and been again recognised one of the Top 10 bak kut teh “Yat Hing” carried by Tan family at Kuantan since 1996, as being one of the best eatery in town.
The Selangor originated Mr. Tan Yeow Chuan who born in Banting year 1965 was the founder, and together with wife Ms. Lian Bee Guat (born 1969) are the immediate owners of the local well known “Restoran Yat Hing” bak kut teh restaurant serving their home generation recipes to the public along Lorong Sri Kuantan into 20 years. Having great response from the visitors.
Tan Yeow Chuan who at his age of 50 years old recently, was grown up in a f&b family initially touched the industry since kids helping parents in their restaurant “Lok Yuen”(pronouns) in hometown Banting which selling bak kut teh & chinese cuisine recipes have built up his experiences and interest in the industry.
With the great interest in eatery & f&b industry, Yeow Chuan decided to stepped into the career, wishing to expose further in the field enabled him to successfully established his very 1st and own bak kut teh restaurant in Kuantan, Pahang named “Restoran Yat Hing” in year 1996 at his 31st of age introducing his mother’s home generation recipes at Air Putih for about 3 years. Being assisted by wife Bee Guat.
Then in year 1999 being moved to Sri Kuantan began from a shoplot, later after a year been expanded into 2 shoplots since year 2000 running untill today. Also in year 2006, being recognised and certified as one of the Malaysia’s Top 10 Bak Kut Teh in the country, the best in town.
In Yat Hing, surely the founder’s top recommended in menus will be their traditional home recipe Bak Kut Teh Soup which served either in claypot or bowl on customer’s request. Soup base boiled with 11 herbals mixture for an hour, then into pork trotter and big bones boiled for 15 minutes followed with lean meats, pork belly & internal parts boiled another 15 minutes, lastly into spare ribs cooked another half hour will brings very authentic bak kut teh you must try when reached Pahang. The meats texture in bites and the bak kut teh soup taste when swallowed into mouth will be the best in town.
Secondly will be their Pepper Stomach Soup, which among the restaurant’s signature. Soup base boiled an hour with white pepper seeds and herbals, then mixed into pork stomach cooked for another hour served boiled in claypot you cannot aside. Smooth pepper herbal soup taste into mouth and texturing pork stomach when bites favourite by most of their regulars.
Another will be their Dry Bak Kut Teh, totally different from others, also one of the visitor’s most wanted when reached “Yat Hing” in Kuantan, Pahang. Commonly fresh belly pork prepared in thicker cutted slices, cooked in claypot with slight bak kut teh soup base mixed into chicken feets and their home recipe sauce brings unbelievable exotic and sticky eatery you will never regret after tasted. Found only in “Restoran Yat Hing”, also favourites by those who came from other states and countries.
Moreover, their homemade Spicy Stewed Pork Trotter also among the recommended by owners. Local fresh pork trotter fried an hour, then followed by stewed an hour with 4 ingredients recipe mixture, and mixed into dried chillies & ginger brings very delicious stewed pork trotter served in the restaurant.
Nonetheless, their Assam Kampung Fish or Assam Stingray also introduced by founder Yeow Chuan served in alluminium wrapping after 15 minutes steamed with homemade assam sauce. And the Ginger Wine Pork Kidney boiled with ginger shredded, served poured into rice wine you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Yat Hing” bak kut teh when reached Kuantan, Pahang.
