MUST HAVE YOUR ASIAN CUISINE DINING IN THE “OLD FOREST CAFE” @ BY THE LEONG COUPLE IN EAST COAST
There are lots of local Malaysian and Asian cuisine restaurants running on respective recipes serving the public nowadays on trend. Here in the East Coast, Pahang we found and recognised one of the local great recommended cafe “Old Forest” introducing their Asian Cuisine menus to the visitors in Kuantan since year 2007.
The local Pahang originated Mr. Leong Keng Soon who born in Raub year 1971, together with his lovely wife Ms. Ang Choi Hong (born 1976) were the founders and immediate owners of the well known “Old Forest Cafe”, having 2 outlets along Jalan Beserah and Seri Kuantan serving their home recipes in manner.
Leong Keng Soon who at his age of 44 years old recently, with wife Choi Hong initially stepped into the food & beverage industry since year 2006 in Perak. With the great interest in eateries and foreseen the market opportunity in the career, Leong couple reached Ipoh, Perak began with their very first concept kopitiam named “First Gen Kopitiam” at Taman Ipoh serving local Malaysian cuisine on his family’s home recipe but unfortunately ended after a year.
In year 2007, Keng Soon and Choi Hong returned to Kuantan stayed in the industry running a small corner cafe along Jalan Beserah agian exposed with experiences hold, where the “Old Forest Cafe” began with Choi Hong’s family home recipe. Subsequent to the great response by the Kuantan locals and visitors, the couple sucessfully moved into a shoplot restaurant in year 2008 also at Jalan Beserah and another outlet at Seri Kuantan in year 2012.
In Old Forest Cafe, the founders first top recommended in menus will be their best signature Pandan Rice (Pandan Nasi Lemak). Rice boiled half hour with fresh coconut milk (santan) and home prepared pandan leaves juice, without any artificial colouring and preservative brings exotic smooth and tasty pandan rice you must try. Served sided with peanuts, deep fried ikan bilis, cucumber slices, egg, homemade sambal paste and either with curry chicken or deep fried chicken will be the perfect match found in the cafe.
Secondly will be one of the cafe’s top seller Curry Noodle which served with homemade chicken curry. Soup base boiled few hours with chicken bones and ikan bilis, into their in-house curry paste prepared from 10 ingredients mixture, then serves topped with beansprout, boiled egg, long bean, fish ball and their curry chicken brings authentic bowl of curry noodles soup you never regret after taken. For those who do not take meats can also request to topped with their stuffed options (yong tau foo).
Another will be their Fish Paste Noodle, which among the signature favourite by their regulars. Homemade fish paste using local fresh sea “Kao Fish”, served topped onto the cooked noodles in their hours boiled chicken soup, and sided with fresh veges brings the exotic freshness and mouth watering eatery you cannot aside.
Moreover, other than local Malaysian delights, they also present the Chinese Herbal Soup Noodle on home recipe. Soup base boiled hours with chicken bones and into herbal Angelica Sinensis or locally known “Tong Guay”, then served topped with boiled chicken drumstick and sided with veges you only found in “Old Forest Cafe”.
While in dessert corner, the owners introduced their Signature Sago Pudding favourite by most of their visitors. Pudding made from sago, freezed up 3 hours after cooked, served taken with fresh coconut milk and brown sugar poured onto you really cannot missed when stepped into the “Old Forest Cafe” at Kuantan, Pahang. End your dining perfectly with their Sago Pudding will be the best in town.
