ONE OF THE MENTAKAP’s BEST RECOGNISED CHINESE CUISINE RESTAURANT “SUANG HEE” @ EAST COAST
One of the East Coast chinese town in state of Pahang, the “Mentakab”, been years lots of authentic chinese & seafood cuisines restaurants practised on respective recipes. Among the local well known, here we found and recognised one of the best in town “Restoran Suang Hee” chinese cuisine restaurant at Taman Rimba serving all their home recipes to the locals and visitors since 2007.
The Negeri Sembilan originated Mr. Chen Ah Foo who born in year 1964 was the initial founder, together with his nephew Chen Meng Chung (born 1986) and Yeo Kim Hau (born 1980), who is Mentakab origin, are the recent owners of the local famous “Restoran Suang Hee” eating house along Jalan Taman Rimba, was the first chinese restaurant which able to occupied more than 50 tables occassions in town.
Mr. Chen Ah Foo who at his age of 51 years old currently, also the chef master for both Meng Chung and Kim Hau, having more than 30 years experiences in the f&b industry began as beginner been reached Singapore to further expose his career, then stepped into Mentakab, Pahang in 1980s started his food stall. Later on established his very 1st restaurant named “Restoran Tong Kiew” at Bukit Bendera.
Yeo Kim Hau who at his age of 35 years old recently, touched the industry since his 13th as part-timer during education then fully stepped into the career in year 1996 at 16 years old joined Mr. Chen in the “Restoran Tong Kiew” as kitchen trainee spent 15 years to positioned as Chef.
While Chen Meng Chung who only at his 29th currently, stepped into the industry at Mentakab recruited himself in his uncle’s (Chen Ah Foo) restaurant since year 2000 also began as kitchen trainee experienced nearly 10 years in the career before known chef in the chinese cuisine field.
Having same mission to expose further and foreseen the market opportunity in the industry, enabled them (Chen Ah Foo, Meng Ching & Kim Hau) established the “Restoran Suang Hee” in year 2007 at Taman Rimba, Mentakab running in 3 lots. Then expanded into another lots after 3 year in 2010, being one of the largest chinese cuisine restaurant in town.
In “Restoran Suang Hee”, the chef’s first recommended in menus will be their Steamed Patin which is the local delicacy eatery in town. Fresh local river “Fruit Patin” fish selected, prepared in about 10 minutes steamed topped with ginger shredded, then served poured onto their home recipe soy sauce made from mixtures of 5 ingredients brings salty, sweet & unbelievable patin fish freshness into mouth you must try when reached Mentakab, Pahang.
Secondly will be their Signature Beancurd, which also among the restaurant’s top seller. Homemade fresh beancurd from chicken egg and soya milk steamed 45 minutes, deep fried then served topped with fried pork minced mixed with green beans and onions brings exotic eatery you cannot aside.
Another will be their traditional homemade Roasted Pork Belly, which most wanted by their regulars. Local fresh belly pork selected, marinated overnight with about 6 home recipes mixture, then roast for about an hour and served in fine cutted cubes brings crispy skin and best meats texture in bites you never regret after taken. Strongly recommended by the restaurant’s owners in “Restoran Suang Hee”.
Moreover, their Sesame Oil Ginger Chicken also among the favourite by the visitors. Village feeded chicken from Ipoh selected, prepared in deep fried, then dry stir fried with sesame oil and ginger shredded brings very authentic chinese cuisine eatery taste exotic and slight salty into mouth you will like it.
Nonetheless, the owners also introduced one of the restaurant’s signature Suang Hee Spare Ribs. Pork ribs marinated with spices, deep fried followed by stired 45 minutes with home sauce, then served after seconds fried mixed into oyster sauce you really cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran Suang Hee” at Mentakab, Pahang.
