WHATS CALLED “REAL BAK KUT TEH”

Mr. Choo Suan Lee who is the founder and recently the owner of the well known “Choy Choy Bak Kut Teh Restaurant” at Old Klang Road since 28 years ago in the year of 1985.  This formerly only an worker in several ‘blue collar industry’ had totally no idea in cooking and food & beverage industry strated to enter the food industry and approached ‘bak kut teh’ at his age of 33 years old in the year of 1984.

 

Mr. Choo who commenced his 1st bak kut teh road side stall ‘Choy Kee’ with a good friend of him who knew the bak kut teh recipe beside the main road of Old Klang Road ( Jalan Kelang Lama).  Unfortunately, his partner quit the career after a year which Mr. Choo still not really understand bak kut teh forced him to quit.  But aftewards he used him own ways to complete his knowledge in the industry through others and combination with his own recipe, he again established his very owned bak kut teh stall in front of a Singaporean Timber Paper Factory also located at Old Klang road named “Choy Choy Bak Kut Teh” in the year of 1985.  From that time, his lovely wife Ms. Fong Yoke Foon gave her greatest supports to him and accompany Mr. Choo towards their future exploresure and finally moved into shop retail (recent location) in the year 1987 well known “Choy Choy Claypot Bak But Teh” where he found the bak kut teh soup boiled in clayport to bring the better effect taste with his own recipe.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to Mr. Choo, why his herbal soup called bak kut teh, it is because other than regular chinese herbal used, a mystery type of ‘chinese tea’ too used by him to completely boiled up his real bak kut teh untill today.  The combination of 3 types of herbal soup base from several chinese herbals is his ‘secret’ to bring the ‘kam’ and ‘hiong’ taste for his bak kut teh soup.  Besides, his ‘wine pork kidney soup’ also the most recommended in the restaurant with the combination of 3 types of traditional wine and ginger slice.  Nonetheless, their ginger sour stewed pork leg too most wanted not only for dinning but also for healthy purpose especially for those women after delivered to heat their body.
