Among one of our Malaysia’s green highland tourism spot favourite by most of the visitors from around the world “Cameron Highland”, Pahang been decades famous with tea, strawberry, vegetable and flower plantations also having lots of restaurants presenting their signatures to the public on respective recipes. One of the best being found and recognised, the “O.K Tuck” chinese cuisine eating house running since 1997.
The Lenggong, Perak originated Mr. Lee Tuck Wan who born in year 1957, together with his wife Madam Goh Gek Nai (born 1963) from Taiping, Perak both were the founders and immediate owners of the well known “Restoran O.K Tuck” at Brinchang, Cameron Highland serving most of their home recipes to the locals and visitors into 18 years. Being assisted by sons Kelwin Lee Kit Cheong (born 1989) and Lee Run Cheong (born 1992), whose to be the next generation.
Mr. Lee Tuck Wan or famously known OK Tuck who at his age of 58 years old recently, initially stepped into the f&b industry since his age of 14th in year 1971 recruited himself into the “Fu Shan Dim Sum”(pronouns) restaurant at Ipoh, Perak as kitchen trainee. Later on exposed into Penang to further his career in the industry. While in late 1980s, OK Tuck reached Cameron Highland, Pahang positioned as chef where he touched the chinese cuisine field spent years in the exposure here.
With the experiences hold by OK Tuck and foreseen the market opportunity in the industry, at his age of 40th successfully established his very 1st and owned eating house named “Restoran O.K Tuck” in year 1997 along Jalan Besar Brinchang, Cameron Highland. Being from the first day assisted by wife Gek Nai introducing the local delicacy eatery steamboat and chinese cuisines to the public.
His elder son Kelwin Lee Kit Cheong who at his 26th recently, been touched the career since kids helping parents in their restaurant. And fully stepped into the industry positioned as chef at his 19th, as the restaurant’s 2nd generation together with younger brother Lee Run Cheong in assistance.
In Restoran O.K Tuck, the chef’s first top recommended in menus will be the “Stout Spare Ribs”. Pork ribs prepared in 2 hours marinated with their 5 home recipes, followed by deep fried then served after seconds stir fried with slight “Stout” poured into brings exotic sweet and tasty eatery you must try when reached Cameron Highland, Pahang.
Secondly will be their Steamed Herbal Pork Knuckle, which among their signature selection most wanted by regulars. Whole pork knuckle prepared with only a minute deep fried to strech the skin layer, then steamed 3 hours wrapped with 6 herbals mixture brings the best eatery in town you cannot aside. Especially the meats texture itself in bites and the authentic herbal taste into mouth.
Another will be their Assam Steamed Talapia which also among the recommended by the owners. Local feeded red talapia fish commonly selected, prepared in 6 minutes steamed then served poured onto their homemade assam paste made from 5 ingredients mixture brings fantastic sweet and sour taste you never regret after taken. Smooth fish meats into mouth and taken with the assam sauce you will like it.
Talking about the local famous delicacy “Steamboat” surely also available in O.K Tuck. Recommended 3 soup base such chicken soup, Tom yam soup and Herbals soup will be served on customer’s request. Then served in set with choices of fish fillet, cuttlefish, prawn, chicken fillet, jelly fish, beancurd, fishball, beancurd sheet, mushroom and also sided with noodles and chicken egg brings complete matching to have their steamboat on this highland.
Nonetheless, OK Tuck also introduced one of the restaurant’s top seller “Dragon Mustache” vegetable, which is the Cameron Highland’s local favourites delicacy veges fried with belacan paste you cannot missed when stepped into the “Restoran O.K Tuck” at Brinchang, Pahang.
