TASTE MADAM LIM’s HOMEMADE “ROJAK” VEGETABLES & CUTTLEFISH RECIPES IN THE EAST @ SARAWAK

One of the Malaysian’s local delicacy eatery practised since decades locally known “Rojak”, a mixtures of vegetables with prawn paste and peanuts shredded is being frequently taken and favourites by the locals and visitors recently.  Especially in the east nation, we found and being recognised one of the recommended rojak specialist “Old Style Rojak & Cendol” eating house in Sarawak, established since 2013.

The local Sarawakian Madam Lim Hui Sek who born in year 1964, was the initial founder and together with her husband Mr. Lee Li Pheng (born 1963) both are the immediate owners of the well known “Old Style Rojak & Cendol” specialised eating house introducing their home recipe mix vegetables, cuttlefish kangkong and ice smoothies beverage (ABC) to the public under a roof at Lutong, Miri.

Lim Hui Sek who at her age of 52 years old currently, formerly was a full-time housewife, grown up in a chinese pastry-making family all the while having great interest in eatery and chefing, on self-studies added with her chefing experiences enabled Madam Lim firstly stepped into the f&b industry in year 2000 at her 36th running a food stall in Pelita Commercial Centre, Miri selling her home recipe rojak, then ended after about a year on circumstances.

With the mission to have her very own restaurant, added with supports from husband Li Pheng and foreseen the market opportunity in the industry allowed Madam Lim after 12 years in 2013 re-stepped the career successfully established her very 1st rojak & cendol restaurant named “Old Style Rojak & Cendol” eating house at Lutong, Sarawak.  Being assisted by family members, will expose into their 2nd outlet in the first quater in year 2016 at Mosjaya, Miri.

In this rojak house, the founder Madam Lim’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their Mix Vegetables with Cuttlefish or locally known “Rojak” which is one of the recent Miri’s local delicacy eatery.  Mixtures of sweet potato, cucumber, pineapple, dried beancurd and cuttlefish boil-cooked, mixed with their home recipe rojak sauce made from 4 ingredients added prawn paste bring salty & sweet taste, then served topped with ground nuts shredded, chilli and lime you must try when reached Miri, Sarawak.

Secondly will be their restaurant’s Signature selection known Goreng Campur, which also the regulars most wanted.  Mixtures of crispy prawn cracker, yam, dried beancurd and sweet potato all prepared in deep fried, mixed with their another sour & sweet home sauce ready with 4 recipes, then served topped with ground nuts shredded and sesame seeds brings fantastic “Vegetarian” selection you cannot aside.

Another will be the Cuttlefish Mix with Veges, locally known “Sotong Kangkung”, which also one of our nation’s delicacy favourites by the visitors.  Fresh local cuttlefish selected, boil-cooked, mixed with local wildlife veges “kangkung” and their in-house 2 ingredients mixture sauce, then served topped with lime and ground nuts shredded you will never regret after tasted.  Is also the tourist’s must try menu when reached our Malaysia nation.

Moreover, Madam Lim also introduced her Cuttlefish with Dried Beancurd which among the customer’s favourite recently.  Boiled cuttlefish mixed with deep fried dried beancurd, served mixed with the sotong kangkung rojak sauce brings another tasty exotic eatery you will like it.
