“Mix Rice” or formerly known “Economic Rice” by the locals is one of the frequently taken and favourites by the chinese religious since years ago in our nation Malaysia being recently practiced widely in better manner everywhere on respective recipes.  Here in Selangor, we found and successfully recognised one of the best leading Mix Rice chain restaurant “Tar Chong” established since year 2013 into the 5th outlet today.

The 3 Perlis originated Mr. Jacky Yong San Long who born in year 1964, together with cousin David Lee Thye Wooi (born 1973) and Choong Chee Kean (born 1973) were the initial founders and immediate owners of the recommended “Tar Chong Mix Rice” chain restaurant introducing their nearly 100 dishes selection daily to the market under a roof in Selangor.

Jacky Yong who at his age of 52 years old currently, was formerly a night market trader in Fashion Industry, with the interest in eatery and foreseen the market opportunity in f&b industry allowed him stepped into the career in early 1990s running a canteen with brother and sister at Puchong began with simple economic rice and noodles.  Then in year 1997 joined by cousin David Lee established their very first and owned food court “Kong Leong Restaurant” in year 1997 at Kuchai Lama where fully stepped into the career.

In order to expose further in the industry, the cousin brothers Jacky and David started their “Restaurant Tar Chong” in year 2007 at Taman Equin, Sri Kembangan.  On the trend in the career and the joined by David’s best friend Choong Chee Kean in year 2013 strengthen their ability and grapped the opportunity to established their 1st mix rice specialized restaurant at Kota Damansara named “Tar Chong Mix Rice”.  Then 2nd at Damansara Utama (Uptown) after a year, followed by another two in year 2015 at Bukit Puchong and Kota Kemuning and the 5th at Bandar Puteri Puchong in year 2016.

In Tar Chong, there are about 80 chinese cuisines selections to be prepared all in their home recipes with the combination ratio of 60% meats, 20% vegetables, 10% seafood, 5% vegetarian and 5% eggs to meet the recent market demands.  In house boiled soup base and beverages with water and chinese tea will be all in the house with no charges available whole day long, really neither found better elsewhere in town.

Among all the dishes presented, the owners first top recommended in signature will be their Sweet & Sour Pork or known locally “Gu Lou Yuk”.  Local feeded pork selected, marinated and floured with recipes, prepared in deep fried, then mixed fried into cucumber, red chilli, onion and pineapple, seconds stired with homemade sweet & sour sauce paste brings exotic taste you must try when reached.

Secondly will be their Tar Chong Signature Chicken, which also the regular’s favourites.  Chicken prepared in cutted pieces, deep fried with recipe flour, then stir-fried with their secret recipes sauce homemade from 7 ingredients mixture brings undescribable taste you cannot aside.  Also the meats texture in bites and crispy into mouth you will like it.

Another will be the chinese traditional Black Vinegar Pork Trotter, which is among the restaurant’s top seller.  Pork trotters braised at least 4 hours with their in-house 8 recipes mixture, added into gingers brings sweet & sour taste you will never regret after tasted.  Smooth sauce paste into swallowed and the chewing trotter meats texture to be the best in town.

Moreover, the owners also taken the opportunity to introduce their Lemon Chicken which all the while likes by their visitors.  Chicken deep fried with recipe flour, then served poured onto lemon gravy sauce homemade from lemon slices you cannot missed when stepped into either outlet of “Tar Chong Mix Rice” in the state of Selangor.
