THE WONG’s 3-GENERATION HOMEMADE WANTAN NOODLE RECIPES GOING MORE THAN 60 YEARS

Been nearly a decade “Wantan Noodles” or formerly known as “Tok-Tok Mee” at some Asian countries including our Malaysia been taken as one of the favourites, especially by the chinese locals commonly as breakfast, lunch or even dinner and supper.  Here in the south, Johor Bharu we found the 3-generation recipe homemade wantan noodle house “Facemee Restaurant” introducing their family’s 60 years recipes to the public.

The owners Ms. Peggy Wong Poi Yook (born 1985), who is the 3rd generation, together with her husband Mr. Vicks Chan Mun Sing who at his 31st currently, both originated from state of Perak also the founders of “Facemee Restaurant” in Johor presenting Peggy’s family generation wantan noodles selection to the locals and visitors at Taman Mount Austin since year 2014.

Late Mr. Wong Kim Tong(pronouns) and wife late Madam Qian Di(pronouns), who were Peggy’s grandparents began their very first handmade home recipe wantan noodles in year 1953 running a food stall in a kopitiam named “Pin Xiang” at Pantai Remis, Perak.  Then later in year 1969 to 2003, being passed onto their son Mr. Wong Chee Por (Peggy’s father) running his mobile noodle stall named “Ah Por Wantan Noodle” at home town, where Peggy touched the industry helping parents since kids.

While Vicks Chan who also grown up in a f&b family, after secondary education been stepped fully into the career by recruited himself into a chinese cuisine restaurant began as kitchen trainee in Kuala Lumpur, following been under employed as chef reached also Singapore where he met Peggy, his wife.

After encouragement among this couple, added with the mission to continue family’s career and foreseen the market opportunity in the f&b industry allowed Vicks and Peggy finally decided to expose in the career, then successfully established their couple’s very first and owned noodle house “Facemee Restaurant” in year 2014 at Mount Austin, Johor Bharu started their journey in the field.

In Facemee Restaurant, the owners’ very first top recommended in menus surely will be Peggy’s family 3-generation Traditional Wantan Noodles.  Homemade flour noodles still being prepared in-house, mixed with their home recipe 3-ingredients soy sauce, topped with slices of Char Siew (roasted pork), then finally served sided with a bowl of their 4 hours boiled soup base cooked insided with handmade pork dumpling (wantan) will be a complete set of their Wong’s Traditional Wantan Noodle you must try.

Secondly will be Vicks’s creation, the South Malaysia Wantan Noodles which to suite the locals and to give options to the visitors.  Homemade flat flour noodles boil-cooked, mixed with their newly introduced home recipe sauce mixed into chilli sauce brings another exotic taste you cannot aside.  Lastly served sided also with a bowl of their boiled pork dumpling (wantan) soup to complete.

Other than Wantan Noodle, they also introduced their hometown delicacy’s Ipoh Chicken Shredded Hor Fun.  Fine chicken shredded meat from in-house half hour boiled chicken, tops onto Ipoh’s Sar Hor Fun (flat rice noodles), mixed onto char siew slices and added onto beansprouts will be your best choice which never regret after taken in this restaurant.

Somemore, Vicks also made his mother’s home recipe Hakka Braised Pork Trotter available in their noodle house as side menu.  Local fresh pork trotter selected, braised 1&half hour with his family’s generation 10 ingredients mixture recipe brings a salty, traditional and tasty hakka braised pork trotter which you found neither better than here according to the couple owners.

Lastly, they also introduced among the top seller in the restaurant, Herbal Drumstick Wantan Mee.  Chicken drumstick boiled at least 3 hours in 8 chinese herbals mixture soup base, then served with their homemade flat wantan mee in herbal soup you cannot missed when stepped into this “Facemee Restaurant” at Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bharu.
