“Wan Tan Mee” or formerly also known “Tok-Tok Mee” in the 1940s in Singapore and Malaysia is one of the traditional authentic noodles eatery taken by the chinese religious since decade ago been originated from China, still favourites by the locals and visitors today. The local originated Singaporean Madam Leong Yuet Meng who born in year 1929, was the initial founder and immediate owner of the recommended “Nam Seng Chinese Mixed Foodstall” noodle house at China Street, Singapore still serving her 60 years wantan mee plater and other home recipe selections to the public under a roof. Recently being assisted by son Michael Tang Yew Kuen (born 1953) as the next generation holding their homemade recipes in the lion city.
Madam Leong who with her age of 87 recently, been touched the f&b industry since year 1955 at her 26th of age running a canteen stall in the Catolic High School for 3 years, later in 1958 began her very owned homemade wantan noodle stall at national library food centre established “Nam Seng” started introducing her wantan mee, then beef noodles and home recipe fried rice in 1970s.
While in year 1995, Madam Leong further her exposure and moved to Joo Chiat Road operating a fixed noodle stall in a coffee shop continue exposed in the industry then based in Far East Square, China Street (Telok Ayer) in year 2000 improved into a specialized noodle house to today remain unchanged on her more than half decade menus selection. Also been recognised as one of the best eating place in year 2016 in Singapore.
In Nam Seng noodle house, the founder Madam Leong’s first top recommended in menus surely will be her 60 years traditional authentic home recipe Wantan Mee which served in dry konlou.
