In Singapore, one of the nearly decade chinese’s traditional eatery “Wanton Mee”, still running widely and favourites by locals and visitors today. The local Singaporean Madam Lai Yau Kiew (2nd generation) who born in year 1951, together with her daughters elder Ms. Kristen Choong Suet Lye (born 1975) and younger Ms. Jill Choong Suet Leng (born 1976) are the recent immediate owners of the recommended “Ji Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist” noodle house running in Hong Lim Food Centre introducing their 50 years home recipe noodles selection to the local public and visitors under a roof along Upper Cross Street, Singapore.
Founder late Madam Chang Suet Ngo (1911-2008), who was local originated Singaporean began her journey in the f&b industry at Chulia Street, Singapore running a mobile noodle stall named “Ji Ji Noodle” being assisted by husband Lai Ji in year 1963. Where 2nd generation Lai Yau Kiew initially stepped into the career helping parents in the noodle stall at her 12th of age.
Later in year 1976, they moved into based a fixed food stall at Hong Lim Market & Food Centre running a single lot stall continue exposed in the industry, where Yau Kiew’s both daughters Kristen Choong and Jill Choong started to help in the noodle stall during their education period. While after millenium year decided to fully step into, and taken the responsibility to continue their family’s generation recipes as 3rd generation expanded into 2 stalls in year 2011 and another lot after 3 years in Hong Lim Food Centre.
At Ji Ji Wanton Noodle, the owners firstly recommended their famous “Mushroom Chicken Feet Noodles”. Chicken egg-made round fine noodles commonly selected, boil-cooked in a minute, then served topped with their 2 hours braised chicken feets in 6 recipe ingredients mixture, mixed with hourly braised mushroom slices brings a complete set of their best mushroom chicken feet noodles you must try when reached Singapore. Especially the noodles bite texture itself and the smooth chicken feets natural collegen into mouth.
Secondly will be their Soy Sauce Chicken Noodles, which among the noodle house’s daily top seller neither found the same in town. Same in-house cooked noodles prepared, then served topped with their half & hour home-braised soy sauce chicken wings with 6 secret ingredients mixture brings very exotic eatery and fantastic sweet, slight salty & soy sauce taste you will never regret after tasted. Another will be their Curry Chicken Noodles, also their regular customer’s most wanted since years ago. Homemade recipe curry paste prepared in-house with more than 10 ingredients mixture, boiled about 20 minutes with chicken and into dried beancurd & potato brings slight spicy and smooth taste you cannot aside.
