Nasi kukus is the traditional food commonly found in Kelantan. It has been the Kelantanese delicacy since decades ago enjoyed by the locals of all races. Here in Johor Bahru, we have successfully founded and recognised the nasi kukus specialist “Taste of Steam”, also known as T.O.S, here in Taman Skudai Baru, serving the Kelantanese delicacies to the locals as well as the non-locals.

Mr. Chua Hock Soon is the owner and founder of “T.O.S Nasi Kukus Kelantan Restaurant”. With the help of his family, he has been introducing all the Kelantanese delicacies in T.O.S restaurant in Jalan Hang Tuah 9, Taman Skudai Baru. It has received good response not only from the Kelantanese living in Johor Bahru, but also the locals and Singaporeans.

The first recommended food in “Taste of Steam” is its “Nasi Kukus Fried Chicken (XL)”. This set meal contains fried chicken, steamed rice, pineapple, sliced Japanese cucumber and keropok (appalam). The fried chicken is marinated with more than 10 ingredients before it is fried, and the selected rice is carefully measured before it is taken to be steamed for at least 20 minutes. To prepare the curry sauce, more than 15 ingredients are used to cook it. The owner also uses small chillies to make the chilli sauce or sambal. The pineapple is sliced horizontally and cooked with the curry before it is ready to be served. The soft and crispy fried chicken, fresh steamed rice, sweet and mild sour pineapple, sweet cucumber and crunchy keropok is one of the main signature set meals in T.O.S.

The second recommended food is their “Nasi Kukus Fried Chicken (L)”. Customers who prefer to eat fried egg and chicken breast are recommended to choose this set meal. By using the same ingredients and recipe, the difference is that instead of using keropok(appalam), Mr. Chua used fried egg in this set meal. In addition, in order to suit the customers preference, smaller sized fried chicken is used instead of whole-legged fried chicken.

The next recommended set meal is “Nasi Kukus India Curry Chicken”. To prepare the curry chicken, the homemade curry is used to fry with the chicken and the bones. Also, the “curry egg” or the boiled egg is put into the curry sauce and cooked for some time. This Indian style fried chicken tastes delicious and not so spicy which is suitable for all customers.

The fourth recommended set meal is “Nasi Kukus Fried Chicken Cube”. The chicken is cut into cube shape and marinated with ginger, salt as well as other secret ingredients. This set meal contains fried chicken cubes, boiled egg, sliced Japanese cucumber, steamed rice topped with curry sauce, and curry cooked sliced pineapples.

This is a non-alcoholic beverage and comes with different flavours such as malt, lemon, peach, apple and strawberry.

Our specialist “T.O.S” serves all the delicacies to all customers from different states and have received good response from them. Do pay a visit to the restaurant here in No. 40, Jalan Hang Tuah 9, Taman Skudai Baru, 81300 Johor Bahru, Johor.
