TASTE THE “CHANG CHENG” CLAYPOT FROG PORRIDGE HERE IN JOHOR BAHRU
Dishes with “Chinese Frog” is one of the authentic eatery not easily found everywhere in city areas previously, but recently been one of the favourites by locals been prepared in various recipes, realised is good for health. Here in Nusajaya, Johor, we have successfully found and recognised our Chinese frog specialist “Chang Cheng”.
Mr. Tan Kai Seng is the owner and founder of “Chang Cheng Claypot Restaurant”. With the help of his wife, Ms. Yang Le Yu, they have been operating the restaurant in Taman Bukit Indah, Nusajaya. The restaurant has received positive response from the customers, locals and non-locals.
Mr. Tan Kai Seng was born in 1968 at Johor. He first stepped into the F&B industry when he was 43 years old, working as a trainee in a restaurant in Singapore. Before operating this “Chang Cheng Claypot Restaurant”, he also operated two other restaurants back in Singapore. Having enough experience, he decided to open his restaurant in 2017 at Johor. He has also been operating another restaurant in Taman Abad since 2014.
Ms. Yang Le Yu, partner of Mr. Tan Kai Seng, was born in 1978 at China. She was working as a trainee back in Singapore in 2014 and that was the moment she stepped into the F&B industry. Having enough experience and confidence, along with her partner, she decided to start operating this “Chang Cheng Claypot Restaurant” in 2017.
The first recommended food in “Chang Cheng” is “Claypot Frog Porridge”. The main ingredients used to prepare this include sliced ginger, onions, chinese frog, porridge, oil and chinese herb (Osmanthus). The porridge is cooked for at least an hour before it is available to be served. In addition, 4 types of rice are mixed together with tofu skin to cook the signature Claypot Frog Porridge. This “Cantonese style” porridge has a smooth texture, and the frog meat brings out mild salty taste and the meat is juicy and delicious.
The second recommended food is “Claypot Dried Chili Frog”. Main ingredients such as dried chillies, small chillies, chinese frog and their homemade sauce are used in making such appealing food. The combination of chinese frog, homemade sauce and chillies brings out the sweet, smooth and spicy taste and the texture of the frog is similar with chicken but it is softer and creamy.
The next recommended food is “Spicy Frog”. This hot and spicy soup base requires ingredients such as small chillies, homemade mala sauce, onion, sichuan pepper, garlic, chinese frog and some vegetables (coriander). This soup is not suitable for all customers except to those who can endure spicy meal. This delicacy originally came from China and has now become more popular in Malaysia. Customers who can enjoy spicy meal is highly recommended to have this in “Chang Cheng”.
The fourth recommended food in “Chang Cheng” is its “Chicken with Odd Taste”. Sichuan pepper, fresh chicken, special homemade sauce, green onions and garlic. This spicy and mild salty chicken which is mixed with with the homemade sauce has a soft and creamy texture.
Last but not least, the owner of “Chang Cheng” also recommended his “Claypot Ginger Spring Onion Frog”. The main ingredients include ginger, chinese frog, ginger, spring onion andChinese wine. The chinese frog which is mixed with the Chinese wine tastes sweet and has a mild sour.
