At the age of 14, she got the opportunity to learn more about the knowledge of cooking by observing the chef in the kitchen. After that she opened a food stall in Salak South for 10 years before moving into another stall which is also in the same area. In 2012, she decided to set up her own restaurant at Bukit Jalil after having strong confidence and experience in F&B industry.
The first recommended food in Icon Kitchen is Black Pepper Pork Ribs. The main ingredients are pork ribs and black pepper. The pork ribs are marinated, steamed and finally microwaved. This mild spicy and soft pork ribs is one of the signature food in the restaurant.
The owner also recommended her “Tea Smoked Chicken”. The chicken is first marinated with seasoning ingredients overnight. The smoked chicken has a strong tea flavour and it tastes savoury and the texture of the chicken is soft and smooth.
The third recommended food is its “Special Crab”. The owner mentioned the most important procedure is that the fresh crabs must be thoroughly washed to make sure they are clean and safe to eat. The fresh crabs are then rinsed into salt water and barbecued for 5 minutes. The way to prepare this dish is simple and the owner wanted the customers to enjoy the fresh crabs without mixing any other ingredients. The crabs taste perfectly fresh and savoury and the meat of the crabs is soft.
