THE BEST BITTERGOURD SOUP & HOME RECIPE HAKKA MENUS BY “FOO MAN”
One of the South Malaysia’s (Johor) local delicacy eatery, the “Bittergourd Soup” being local’s chinese traditional food menu which recently been served in more than hundreds of chinese restaurants throughout the state. The local Johorean Mr. Ong Chau Wei, who born in year 1980, was the founder and also the immediate owner of the recognised “Foo Man Restaurant” in Kulai, Johor serving not only their signature homemade bittergourd soup but also their traditional home recipe Hakka & chinese cuisine selection menus to the locals and visitors under a roof since 2012. Being assisted by Chau Wei’s younger sister Ms. Ong Pei Ying.
Ong Chau Wei or known Ah Wei who at his age of 38 years old currently, being stepped into the f&b industry since his age of 16th began as kitchen trainee in a chinese cuisine restaurant “Cathay Restaurant” in Johor Bahru during year 1996. Ah Wei spent 10 years in the field to strengthen his chefing skill experience, then been positioned as a Chef at his 25th of age continued his exposure in the career.
While in year 2012, with the experiences hold & great interest in the industry, added with foreseen the market opportunity in the career and wishing to expose further in the f&b industry allowed Ah Wei to successfully established his very first & owned chinese cuisine restaurant named “Foo Man Restaurant” at Kulai, Johor introducing his signature bittergourd soup and Hakka recipes to the public. Also joined by his sister Pei Ying, who all the while experienced in F&B Hotel Management, both running their restaurant in manner.
In Foo Man Restaurant, the founder’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their “Signature Bittergourd Soup” which differ from the others. Soup base boiled at least 6 hours with mixtures of chicken bones, pork bones and soy beans. Cooked mixed with fresh fine bittergourd slices, added into pig’s liver, intestine, kidney, pork slice etc brings excellent pork’s freshness taste and healthy soup selection you must taste neither better elsewhere in town.
Secondly will be their “Hakka Signature Fried Meat” in pork, which among the daily best seller in the restaurant. Pork belly selected, marinated 3 days with their in-house 15 ingredients mixture recipe, then deep fried for about 10-15 minutes to cooked and finally served in chewing cutted pieces brings the best crispy and meat’s bites texture selection you will never regret after tasted.
Another will be their “Stewed Pork with Yam”, which among the traditional Hakka’s eatery most wanted by the regulars. Roasted pork belly prepared, followed with 15 minutes braised, then steamed another 15 minutes with deep fried Thai imported yam slices served hot on table brings exotic roasted pork taste and excellent meat’s juicy in bites you really cannot aside in this restaurant. Other than meats, the owner Ah Wei also taken the opportunity to introduce their Hong Kong Cantonese Steamed “Garlic Fish Fillet”.
