THE HALF CENTURY 50 YEARS TRADITIONAL FAMILY’s INSTANT NOODLES RECIPE IN “TIONG AN” KOPITIAM
“Instant Noodles” which an easiest and fastest-prepared home eatery carried by most of the families since decades, but recently being brought into the market as one of the famous menus in cafe and kopitiam presenting on respective recipes. Founder late Mr. Gwee Tiong An, whose Tangkak, Johor origin initially stepped into the f&b industry since year 1988 running the family’s kopitiam (coffee shop) at Kg. Batu 10, Tangkak named “Nam Huat Heng” introducing his home prepared instant noodles (Maggi) to the locals. Recently been generation passed onto daughter-in-law, into 2nd generation.
Both Johorean, whose also originated from Tangkak (Johor), Mr. Wee Eng Yap (born 1987) and Mr. Tay Seng Yong (born 1990) are the current immediate owners of the recommended “Restaurant Tiong An” kopitiam at Johor Bahru, bodied-up with Ungku Nur Muhammad bin Ungku Khalid (Hamka, born 1987) presenting Wee’s family traditional instant noodles recipe and other signature menus under a roof.
With chefing experiences hold by Seng Yong, added with Eng Yap’s vision to expose further on his family’s 50 years traditional instant noodles as 3rd generation and Hamka’s great interest in f&b industry, also forseen the market opportunity in the field enabled them to tied-up and successfully established their conceptual coffee house (Tiong An Kopitiam) in year 2017 at Taman Perling serving all their homemade selections to the locals and visitors with “No Pork, No Lard”.
In this conceptual Tiong An Kopitiam, the owner’s first top recommended in menus surely will be their “Signature Mee Maggi Special” which served in curry flavour. Boiled in claypot for about few minutes mixed with veges, chicken egg and their homemade 50 years sauce recipe made up from 3 ingredients mixture brings exotic and traditional tasty instant noodles eatery you must try. For those who like chicken sausage or chicken ham can also be added in optional on customer’s request.
Secondly will be their “Nasi Lemak Special”, which also among their restaurant’s daily top seller recently. Fresh local chicken selected, marinated in hours with their in-house recipe mixture then deep fried coated with recipe flour to be served sided with hot boiled coconut milk white rice topped onto a sunny egg, peanuts, deep fried crispy ikan bilis and their delicious home prepared sambal sauce made from more than 10 ingredients mixture brings a complete set of their “Tiong An Special Nasi Lemak” you neither found better elsewhere in town.
Another will be their “Pan Fried Mee Hoon”, which prepared by their specific Malay experienced chef, also most wanted by the regulars. Rice noodles (mee hoon) pan-fried, then served with poured onto their gravy soup sauce mixed with chicken egg, veges, shrimps, squids and chicken slices you will never regret after tasted.
Nonetheless, the owners also never forget to introduce their “Traditional Charcoal Roasted Bread” which prepared on orders, served mixed in between with coconut paste (kaya) and butter mixture brings crispy in bites.
